Just returned from our first trip to Charleston with my wife's parents in tow. We ate at a few restaurants in the historic district which were very good but really enjoyed our dinner at the Five Loaves. All local sourced ingredients in the specials and 1/2 priced wine on 2 days a week. We went on Wednesday which is one of the discount wine days. The food and service was very good. A younger crowd from the colleges but a very nice atmosphere. The pasta dishes we all excellent and it was a welcome change from the menus at most of the other places (shrimp/grits, seafood) which dominate Charleston's other restaurants. Check this place out and you will not be disappointed

We went to Five Loaves with our two
toddler daughters and it was a perfect meal in a very kid friendly environment. They have a great kids menu and handed us much needed crayons when we arrived.

Most importantly, the grown up meal was amazing. They offer a flexible menu that allows you to try a lot of different things. We each had a half a sandwich and three soup sampler. The soups were rich and perfectly prepared. The sandwiches were fresh and combined perfectly blended ingredients. What a treat!

Although we have lived just outside of Charleston since this restaurant has been in existence, we just recently made our way there. Even though it was packed on Saturday night, we had just a short wait outside until a table became available. I had the Sauteed Shrimp Gnocchi and it was excellent! Although it had a creamy sauce, it wasn't too rich. Husband had one of the specials, Roasted Mussels and Clams over pasta, which was also a hit! Can't wait to go back!
