A brief trip to Charleston, led us to 82 Queen, recommended by our B&B host. But we found it anyway. A charming place with indoor and outdoor dining, plus a nice bar for pre-dinner drinkies. We were collected and taken to our table as it became available. We both chose the She Crab Soup to start which was delicious... when in Rome! My husband ordered the Scallops for his entree; I chose the Jumbalaya. Both delicious, but a warning, unless you have starved for a week, the Jumbalaya is a huge portion. If there is a fault, and this is general to many restaurants in the U.S., the staff are very attentive, but to the point where one feels they are just turning over as fast as possible to get the next lot of diners in. Take a trip from Europe... some of us love to relax and savour, and talk a little and eat some more.

The bar is beautiful and welcoming. There were two of us and we had the BEST she crab soup and fried green tomatoes along with a beer. After a long day of exploring the city this was a most enjoyable experience.

Went on Saturday March 9 with reservations. We had been here for dinner several years ago and found everything, service, food, atmosphere excellent, so we decided to go again. Well things have changed. The atmosphere is still the same. After being seated, we received the menus and we told our server that my wife was allergic to seafood and nuts. We then proceeded to look at the menu and every item except for two had either seafood or nuts in it. There was a steak item that was supposed to be in a merlot reduction sauce that came with a crab stuffed tomato and pomme frites. We asked if we could substitute the crab stuffed tomato with brussel sprouts, which were listed as a side order and our server said we could. Ok, so far so good. I ordered the she crab soup an my wife ordered the beef vegetable soup and both were very good. The entries came and I had ordered encrusted scallops, crab stuffed tomato and grits. My meal was good but for $30, only 3 half dollar size scallops about 1/2 inch thick were included. This would have made a great appetizer at half the price. My wife's dinner came and it was obvious the steak was cooked without any sauce (none on plate either). The brussel sprouts came as a salad and had pecans throughout the mixture. Despite telling our server about my wifes allergy to nuts, the server never told my wife when she ordered them that they had pecans. Overall experience overrated, overpriced, and not much attention to details. With 2 glasses wine, 2 cups of soup, and 2 entries tax, and tip $125.00 Go elsewhere.

The atmosphere was outstanding and service great. We had Sunday brunch. Shrimp and Grits were perfect. Duck sandwich was rather dry, Crab eggs benedict also a bit on the dry side.

We have been going to Charleston for the last 20 years and when we found 82 Queen, it quickly became my wife's favorite place to eat. Great atmosphere, menu and oh yes Death by Chocolate. We took our son and his wife there on Saturday and much to our disappointment, the place has really lost it place in the line of fine dining. Among steep metal stairs, crying babies, new (almost NO) menu and of all thing no more death by chocolate. The "new" menu was short with limited offerings, no side items and seemed to be prepared for a strange pallet. In addition, we were disappointed in the food quality. The pork was overcooked, tough and chewy; the duck was overcooked and the rib eye was fat and when covered with the awful merlot reduction tasted similar to burnt ends at a poor grilling contest. Bottom line, awful menu, awful food , lost restaurant. Maybe we weren't the first to discover the down fall of a fine restaurant, there was no waiting line.
