Had lunch at Husk, wanted to try FIG so did dinner there. Monday night, so not a problem with reservations. The gals shared an appetizer, which was John's Island Tomato Tarte Tatin...and was very tasty and well presented. I shared the lemon marinated razor clams with the other lad and even the gals tried it...and we, their tart. Makes an appetizer less filling as some are rather large and complex...and...allows everyone to sample two appetizers. Not a cheap deal...a smart deal!
As usual, the women-folk shared an entree of Zucchini wrapped grouper. It was determined to be an excellent dish, well prepared and very nicely presented. I had the sauteed snapper with a farro verde which was tasty indeed. The other lad enjoyed the lamb braciole. We all shared a poached peach tart and had coffee as a finish to our meal.
Service was excellent, food was well prepared with thought to taste and pairings with accessory parts of the dish. All in all, a really nice dining experience on the upper end of the scale for cost. Wine selections were ample and we enjoyed some.
The ambiance was very nice with decent lighting yet not overly done. Wait service was exceptional, attentive but not intrusive.....with little of the crumb scraping between each mouthful some upscale places think is a mark of excellence. Obviously, FIG is a well managed restaurant with experienced chefs and wait service...a dandy experience for us. We would recommend it without reservation or caveat.
