“cold coffee burns me up”
Reviewed October 9, 2010

it was raining cats and dogs and we were at the city market across the street (on vacation), waiting and waiting for kaminsky's to open. for some reason, this coffee shop does not open until 4 pm. people were waiting outside and if i owned a coffee shop, i'd open it up and sell hot coffee like crazy on a day like that. the manager couldn't find his key, so they finally took us through the restaurant next door and into the shop. soaking wet, we ordered hot chocolate and a specialty coffee. looking foward to this warmth on a wet, very cold late afternoon, imagine our shock when neither were even warm. unable to get service, we took the items back up to the counter and said we needed them micro'ed. she offered to make the drinks totally over, but we said, no, we had waited long enough, just heat them up. by then there was a string of people waiting. we could not believe the prices people paid for desserts. it didn't seem to bother anyone. they were selling them like crazy. some guy stalked out, saying to us on his way, his coffee was cold and he wasn't going to pay for it or drink it. he left it on the counter. we told the waitress and she seemed distressed, saying, "whatever is going on?" the funny thing is, there is a coffee shop right across the street that was open, but we had heard about kaminsky's so waited to go there. mistake. in fairness, once the drinks were heated they were very tasty and not overly expensive ($3.25). it was a nice-sized cup, too. however, there is NO excuse for COLD coffee in a COFFEE SHOP! we would not reccomment it nor would we return. so sad. too bad.

“The Memory Remains!”
Reviewed October 5, 2010

Even though my wife and I visited this place over a year ago, I felt the need to go back and right about it. Obviously, it if has stuck with me for that long, it was a great place to go. My wife and I stopped into Kaminsky’s one hot afternoon to take a break from shopping and get a snack. We had no idea what we had stepped into. The place was rather calm considering the number of tourists that were out and about that day. The setting is very clean and comfortable. After gazing at the amazing cakes and other deserts, we decided on the Tollhouse pie. The pie came out with a huge mound of vanilla ice cream and what seemed like a quarter of the entire pie! It was definitely filling for the both of us to share, even though neither wanted to.

“Accidental delight!”
Reviewed October 4, 2010

We managed to find this place while on a late night search for chocolate. Yes it was crowded, in fact, there was a fifteen minute wait. And yes it was noisy, because it was completely packed to the brim with people. Despite this, the layered double chocolate cake, and the chocolate chip cookie sundae that we ordered were both divine! The coffee was delicious, and considering the busyness of the place, the service was excellent. If it's only dessert you want, and you want to sit down at a comfy table with a hot cup of coffee or a glass of wine to wash it down..this is the place. We were delighted. Inexpensive, reasonable prices too. Obviously a local favorite.

“Not that great”
Reviewed September 30, 2010

We stopped by due to recommendations from previous Trip Advisor comments, and were not impressed. It sits directly across from the City Market. It is very dark inside, lots of wood, and the pastries did not look fresh, nor was the coffee selection anything different than the usual. We went down the street to City Lights, about a two blocks west of the City Market on Market Street, they had frech pressed coffee, dark or carmel coffee shakes, breve... that is what I call a coffee shop, we went every day to City Lights during our visit to Charleston.
