“Good desserts and pricing”

We had dessert only. Keylime pie, coconut cream pie, and berry cobbler were delicious! Price is reasonable for downtown Charleston.

“Long queues. Good cakes. ”
Reviewed July 26, 2014 via mobile

Very popular obviously as the queue is long to get in for seat or take away. We took the latter and the cakes were good. Not sure if it was worth the wait - but the cakes are good - so you decide !

“Most Excellent is Right”
Reviewed July 26, 2014

We had to wait about 20-30 mins for a table at 10pm on a weeknight for this place. That is how popular it is. it is know for its desserts and dessert cocktails. We had both ! Crème Brulee and Chocolate Martinis. Both good but the Crème Brulee was totally amazing if I had to actually pick. Berry pie was slightly warmed, rich, flaky crust, with a nice sweet-tart berry filling. Three (HUGE) layers of chocolate cake was beyond enormous and just as delish. Average price of about $8-12 for a martini and desserts ran about $5-$8. Very energetic, cool vibe, dimly lit café and bar with lots of scrumptious desserts to chose from. They close about midnight or so I think and when we left there was still a line !

“Most Excellent Cafe - Not”
Reviewed July 24, 2014

We were really disappointed. Visited with family late night for dessert since we love desserts. Didn't mind the wait. Atmosphere was good. Location was great. Here's where it goes south. Table was sticky. Desserts were SUGARY and DRY and BLAND. Expected better quality. We tried the Carrot cake (tasted sugar icing not cream cheese as promised), Banana cake, and Boston cream cake (with terrible processed whipped topping). Even the kids' ice cream sundaes were overwhelmed with too much chocolate sauce. It was an unhappy and expensive outing.

“Delicious desserts; poor service”
Reviewed July 20, 2014

The desserts were so good we had to go back for more. Our favorites were the Tollhouse Pie, Pecan Caramel Cheesecake, and New York Cheesecake. Since we were full from eating at another restaurant, we liked the fact that we could run in and get a slice of deliciousness to take with us. This will be a definite stop on any Charleston trip. My only complaint was the service. The people taking the to go orders seemed more concerned with socializing than waiting on customers. I know it was busy, but they acted like it was a burden to wait on patrons. This was true both times we were there.
