Description: Chef Marc Collins draws inspiration from many cuisines around the world to create a menu that is truly unique to the Charleston restaurant scene. Drawing inspiration from historic Southern dishes and always highlighting what is local and in season, Chef Collins puts a healthful, distinctive spin on classic Lowcountry dishes. This means there is less butter and cream than typically seen on Southern menus. Whole grains are incorporated to dishes and ingredients are used at the peak of flavor. The result is satisfying dishes that retain their bright, bold flavors without the large amounts of fat found in many restaurant dishes. From our Plantation Rice Bread Rolls made in house daily, to the selection of local seafood, to Pastry Chef Lovorn’s incredible desserts, each dinner at Circa 1886 celebrates the region we call home. Let our professional, attentive, experienced and knowledgeable staff guide you through the menu and help select a wine that is a perfect pairing for food and budget.

The atmosphere at Circa 1886 is old-school formal, something to keep in mind if you are in to trendy hot spots (this isn't). But the food is sublime, and service and presentation were exceptional. During our recent trip to Charleston and Savannah we ate at several of the best restaurants (FIG, Circa 1886, and Magnolia's in Charleston; and Alligator Soul, Local 11 Ten, Noble Fare, and The Olde Pink House in Savannah), and Circa 1886 was one of the best meals we had (maybe THE best, but FIG and Alligator Soul were very close as well).

We read some reviews before we made our reservation & some were quite mixed and as I write this this evening see some more in line with our experience. First of all the building and dining areas are so wonderful. The menu excited us as there were so many interesting choices. We like to try different things and were pleased to have Randy who was so knowlgable about the menu.
We followed his recommendations and were not disappointed. My husband had the flounder & loved it and I had the antelope which was wonderful as well. We were so impressed with the wait staff and their knowledge of food preparation & look forward to a revisist.

Actually, we did for a wine tasting as part of the Home & Garden Tours and that was so well done as well!!

Circa 1886 is a delight in every way. The food is sublime and inventive, a complex fusion of magical flavours. The food presentation is artistic to a fault - dessert was adorned with flowers and wafers and was almost too pretty to eat. The staff were welcoming and efficient. They worked as a team to create a memorable experience for their guests. Unpretentious yet first class, this dinner is now at the top of our "all time favourites." Circa 1886 should be at the top of your "must dos" is Charleston too!

Attended a corporate function here last night. Unfortunately it was raining so we could not enjoy the patio but this place is class through and though. We had world class service and 5 of the best plates ever. Appetizer to desert everything was superb as the wait staff was the best. I can't say enough good things about our evening

My husband and I went here for our last night in Charleston, so glad we did. The service is amazing. Each table has 2 waiters! The food is the best we had during our entire stay. The chocolate souffle is to die for. We will being going back to Charleston if only to eat here. Would very highly recommend to eat here the very BEST.
