Description: Chef Marc Collins draws inspiration from many cuisines around the world to create a menu that is truly unique to the Charleston restaurant scene. Drawing inspiration from historic Southern dishes and always highlighting what is local and in season, Chef Collins puts a healthful, distinctive spin on classic Lowcountry dishes. This means there is less butter and cream than typically seen on Southern menus. Whole grains are incorporated to dishes and ingredients are used at the peak of flavor. The result is satisfying dishes that retain their bright, bold flavors without the large amounts of fat found in many restaurant dishes. From our Plantation Rice Bread Rolls made in house daily, to the selection of local seafood, to Pastry Chef Lovorn’s incredible desserts, each dinner at Circa 1886 celebrates the region we call home. Let our professional, attentive, experienced and knowledgeable staff guide you through the menu and help select a wine that is a perfect pairing for food and budget.

“Best food in charleston”
Reviewed November 30, 2013 via mobile

This was by far the best food I had in charleston. The resturant is tucked away in a beautiful setting. The staff was very friendly and knowledgable. The food was great. The heirloom salad and egg and tots were fantastic. The main meals of trigger fish and wagyu shoulder had complex favors and presentation was nice. Save room for dessert as we inhaled the chocolate souffle and the donuts. One of the best restaurants anywhere I have been

“Antelope?”
Reviewed November 27, 2013

My wife and I recently visited Circa 1886 and had one of the best meals ever. I tries the Antelope steak and it was excellent. Never having had it before I can't compare but I doubt it could be any better. The waiter suggested cooked Med and he was right on. it was kind of on the sweet side and not at all gamey like Venison. if you are feeling a little daring I would highly recommend you give it a try. My wife had the Duck breast and that was prepared perfect I would also recommend this. Be sure to save room for one or two of their fabulous deserts. The ambiance is nice and the staff is very attentive and professional. There is plenty of parking so don't hesitate to drive there as it is a little of the beaten track.

“A Perfect Night Out”
Reviewed November 18, 2013

Circa 1886 is a charming spot in Charleston next to the Wentworth Mansion. We had requested the Garden room ( private) for a party of eight and were not disappointed.

It was a most pleasant evening with good food, superb service and a Maître D that was most accommodating, volunteering to give us a private tour of the adjoining Wentworth Mansion at the end of our meal.

All in all, a perfect evening with friends.

Thank you for choosing Circa 1886 as the site for your private party. The Garden Room is a wonderful space for small, intimate gatherings. We are thrilled that your group had a memorable evening and were treated to a tour of the Wentworth Mansion at its conclusion. We look forward to hosting you all again. Thank you for the recommendation.

Sincerely, Richard Widman and Chef Marc Collins, Co-Owners

“Yummy Breakfast with over the top service”
Reviewed November 18, 2013

We ate breakfast here and it was so good. The service was over the top. They could not have been more friendly. When we arrived two serviers immediately helped us and gave us great recommendations on food and accomodated our special requests. It was a lovely experience.

“Creative Culinary Charleston”
Reviewed November 18, 2013

Dining at Circa 1886 was a delight. The atmosphere was lovely and romantic. The service was impeccable; friendly, informing, caring but not intrusive. The balance of flavors in each of our meals was marvelous and the presentation on all courses was creative and visually pleasing never "trying too hard". We dined at several fine establishments including Charleston Grill however the first reservation that I will make as we plan our June, 2014 visit is at Circa 1886.
