“Excellent Lunch”
Reviewed July 14, 2013

Our family stopped in for lunch after visiting Fort Sumter. The location and atmosphere are excellent. We were in walking distance from many sites/attractions in Charleston. Our server, Ross, who was excellent, gave us some good tips on where to walk after leaving the restaurant. We all enjoyed the food.

The only negative is that when we first walked in the door, there was a whiff of sewer. We didn't notice it when we sat down and ate. I noticed it elsewhere while walking in Charleston, so it may have had more to do with geography than the restaurant itself.

“Fantastic Service”
Reviewed July 13, 2013

We drove by this restaurant our first day in Charleston and then the next day we ended up right by it following a walking tour. From the outside it looked all fancy and my husband thought it might be too fancy for lunch. In reality, it is a nice brew pub. We had great service and decided to split a couple of appitizers and a pizza. We got the applewood bacon pizza -- it was so yummy. We also got the hush puppies served with honey butter (my step son was eating the honey butter by itself it was so good) and the caesar salad. It was plenty of food for the 4 of us for lunch. My husband got one of the brewed beers and really enjoyed it. Great stop for lunch as you walk around Charleston!

“Good beer, great food”
Reviewed July 10, 2013

My husband and I were at Southend three times during our July 4th weekend in Charleston. First on the Charleston Culinary Tour to sample pizza, shrimp and grits, and hushpuppies with wildflower honey butter. The second time we came back to have dinner and a beer. We tried the grouper and the fried green tomatoes with pimento cheese. With the exception of the pizza, which was just good, all of these dishes were really fantastic! The third time we came to just drink beer at the bar upstairs. Their summer ale was ok; their pale ale was one of my favorite pales ever.

All around a really nice place to eat, drink, or both.

“Go see George!”
Reviewed July 10, 2013

Although I don't drink, the other people in my group enjoyed different types of beer that they brew on location. On our ghost tour, we learned about a man who hung himself after he lost the last of his money - when his cotton caught fire in the harbor. It's a fun place to go!

Had a great server, Sam. The food was outstanding. Good atmosphere for a dinner. Beef brisket was good along with the chicken nachos.
