“One of the best in Charleston. A must go restaurant”
Reviewed August 6, 2014

I had lunch here last week and I thought that it was fantastic. Everything was perfect. The decor, the service, and the food. Our waiter was perfect and you know that doesn't always happen. I shared the shrimp blt and the beef bbq sandwich with my wife. We loved everything.
Please make sure that you have a reservation.

“Casual Gourmet Dining”
Reviewed August 6, 2014

During a recent visit to Charleston, my wife and I had the pleasure of dining at the Cru Cafe. Located in a converted home, the Cru has a casual atmosphere that belies its gourmet meals. Especially noteworthy was its Fried Calamari, which was beautifully presented and provided a truly tasty eating experience. My wife had the Cru's Chinese Chicken Salad as her main course and was excellent. I had the Pecan-Smoked Duck Breast. I must say that the duck was somewhat tough but the ensemble was superb. Service was friendly and prompt.

Just a bit of advice if you are tempted to eat on the outside porch: the Cru is located directly across the street from the stables of a carriage-tour outfit, and the odor of the stable can waft across the porch.

“Excellent food and service in a casual atmosphere”
Reviewed August 5, 2014

We made reservation and had dinner there. It is a small place and some tables could look into the kitchen and see your food being prepared.
The atmosphere is casual and we felt comfortable with our 2 kids (12 and 9)
Food was amazing and fresh. From appetizers to deserts, everything was perfect.
Price was very reasonable and definitely a very good value.
We would go back again the next time we are in Charleston

“Our favorite restaurant”
Reviewed August 5, 2014

Each time we visit Charleston, we head to Cru Cafe as our first choice. On our last visit we enjoyed a smoked pastrami sandwich with amazing cole slaw. The service and food were extraordinary AS ALWAYS.

“Delicious meal, great service”
Reviewed August 5, 2014 via mobile

This was our first time at Cru and I recommend it. We went for dinner on a Saturday, had a reservation fortunately because they were doing a brisk business. The restaurant is in a Charleston single house. Inside, it's a little cramped: a long bench goes along one wall and 4 tables are in front, not providing as much privacy as you might like. The food was delicious: calamari appetizer, seafood risotto, swordfish and a bottle of wine. For 2 of us it was over $100, so I'd call it semi casual fine dining. Go to Cru, you'll enjoy it!
