“Yum!”
Reviewed March 9, 2013 via mobile

I've lived in charleston for 5 years and just experienced this place for the first time, it's amazing! Quick bites, super reasonable prices and very, very French! Get the croq openfaced because its so much bread otherwise. Very quaint space but fun community tables make it interesting!

“Great spot to have a meal and socialize”
Reviewed March 4, 2013 via mobile

Enjoyed the atmosphere and food at this small bistro-type place. Diners sit in close quarters around U-shaped counters and choose from a nice selection of French dishes. Bouillabaisse was surprisingly bland for a French restaurant, but the gazpacho was terrific.

“Open the doors and take a trip to Paris!”
Reviewed March 4, 2013

Gaulart & Maliclet is not your typical Charleston restaurant. Long and narrow, with all seats sent around a counter, this is an urban bistro worthy of that designation. From the moment you walk in you will know this is a transplant that evokes all the charm of those hundreds of small cafes that line the sidewalks of Paris. Inventive, reasonably priced food and wine. A menu that changes with the seasons and vegetarian options that are good. This place has been in Charleston forever and evokes a time when most Americans had not been to Paris and I'll be this place seemed pretty unique and exotic. It's a great stop off for a meal any time of the day and we will definitely be back. Very well located just about in the center of Charleston on Broad Street near the art galleries.

“Locals call it Fast and French”
Reviewed February 28, 2013

This bustling little cafe has been on the scene since forever. Grab a seat at the long counter/community table and order the special of the day. It's a sandwich du jour, soup of your choice, fruit and a glass of their house wine...all for under $10! Great lunch spot when you're meandering around touring the historic South of Broad area or perhaps browsing in the many art galleries in the neighborhood.

“Charleston's best kept secret”
Reviewed February 28, 2013

Also known as Fast and French, this little bistro was fabulous! See reviews under Fast and French, but in a nutshell, this is good food at a good price in a great location, within walking distance to a million things you want to see while in Charleston.
