Description: After working in the restaurant business for many years, Tommy opened his first restaurant in 1984. He has made his name by becoming one of Charleston's favorite local spots to serve up Lowcountry specialties such as shrimp and grits and fish and chips. Tommy runs the type of family-oriented establishment where people know their children are as welcome as they are. In fact, a children's menu has been specially prepared for "little leprechauns." In the months following Hurricane Hugo, Tommy made numerous trips to Ireland collecting exquisite antique mirrors and authentic Irish memorabilia that adorn his restaurant. He scoured the countryside and brought every pub mirror he could find. He laughs wryly about his massive shipping bills. The results are worth all his effort. The mirrors cast rich reflections, making the restaurant warm and inviting. Some mirrors are ornately detailed while others shimmer with simple elegance. You'll swear you've been transported to a pub shrouded in antiquity in Ireland's rambling countryside. The restaurant would not be complete without the sounds of Ireland. The background music is perfect. In the pub and bar area the "live" sounds of Ireland can be heard every Wednesday through Sunday nights. You can sit back and listen or join in singing an Irish-American sing-along. Tommy says it is wonderful to see whole families getting in on the fun at one table while at another sits a couple on a date and at yet another sits someone's grandparents remembering and laughing.

“Fresh Taste”
4 of 5 bubbles Reviewed May 4, 2014

Kept it simple, fish and chips. Loved it, tartar sauce tasted so fresh and really made a big difference in my overall satisfaction. My significant other got a burger and was pleased, but wished he could customize it a little, he doesn't like mushrooms and onions.

“Food & drink Good but entertainment bigoted!”
2 of 5 bubbles Reviewed May 4, 2014

Tommy Condon's was a typical overseas Irish pub that served very good Guinness and reasonably good food. However, the entertainment spoiled the occasion and was certainly one I wouldn't recommend! The trio comprised, a young American fiddler who was first class, an elderly bigoted Irishman who continually made statements such as " we all hate the English, and this song is all about the IRA and why we love them!"and the third member was a very mediocre guitarist who like hie Irish partner, liked to insult any one or anything that came from England! Fortunately with 800 metres there was another Irish pub Molly Darcy's which was first class!

“Good place to observe and drink”
4 of 5 bubbles Reviewed May 1, 2014

Tommy Condon's is a good place to enjoy a cold beer and observe the Church Ave street scene. Did not eat, but those around us seemed to be enjoying their food. Close to the Market, with a good vibe.

“Fun, friendly place”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed April 29, 2014

Fun place in downtown Charleston, tucked away a block off Meeting Street. Good music, friendly folks. Had some really good, unique corned beef egg roll appetizers followed by the fish and chips which was a good choice. Corned beef sandwich is also good. Good selection of beers on tap. No problems with service reported by others. We will be back.
