Description: After working in the restaurant business for many years, Tommy opened his first restaurant in 1984. He has made his name by becoming one of Charleston's favorite local spots to serve up Lowcountry specialties such as shrimp and grits and fish and chips. Tommy runs the type of family-oriented establishment where people know their children are as welcome as they are. In fact, a children's menu has been specially prepared for "little leprechauns." In the months following Hurricane Hugo, Tommy made numerous trips to Ireland collecting exquisite antique mirrors and authentic Irish memorabilia that adorn his restaurant. He scoured the countryside and brought every pub mirror he could find. He laughs wryly about his massive shipping bills. The results are worth all his effort. The mirrors cast rich reflections, making the restaurant warm and inviting. Some mirrors are ornately detailed while others shimmer with simple elegance. You'll swear you've been transported to a pub shrouded in antiquity in Ireland's rambling countryside. The restaurant would not be complete without the sounds of Ireland. The background music is perfect. In the pub and bar area the "live" sounds of Ireland can be heard every Wednesday through Sunday nights. You can sit back and listen or join in singing an Irish-American sing-along. Tommy says it is wonderful to see whole families getting in on the fun at one table while at another sits a couple on a date and at yet another sits someone's grandparents remembering and laughing.

“Great daily special”

The daily special brought me in to this classic Irish bar with patio seating on the corner. Many choices of draft beer accompanied the special fried flounder over pimento cheese grits with excellent fresh coleslaw. The bowl of crab soup was very good.

“Went twice in one day!”
Reviewed November 5, 2013

We were down by the market in the afternoon & wanted a quick bite to eat so we stopped at Tommy's. A friend from home recommended it so we decided to try it. Great Irish Pub & really nice outdoor patio. We only split an order of crispy wings and had a couple of beers, but we enjoyed the place. The wings were cooked as ordered and very meaty, just right for a lite snack. Our server was very sweet.
Later in the evening we were still downtown. We stopped at a couple of nicer restaurants & had a glass of wine, but really didn't want a huge meal nor wanted to pay the big bucks. So we headed back to Tommy's. Since it was Tuesday, burgers were half price, so we decided to have one of their many choices of burgesr. Both were cooked perfectly & again the service was great. I know we should have tried the fish & chips since iwe were in an Irish pub, but maybe next time. It was VERY quiet in Charleston during the week, espcially at night & this was the liveliest place around!

“Good fish and chips”
Reviewed November 2, 2013

Wife and I ate lunch here yesterday. We had a good server who did a good job. The place is a typical Irish type restaurant for the US. Irish music playing and Leprechauns dancing in the place. (J/K on the Leprechauns) I had the Fish and Chips and I'll have to say they were good. Our server did ask if I wanted more Fish but I said no. Only when we left did I see Friday was all the fish you can eat. We came in a second door that did not have the sign. They should fix that. My wife had the Fried Green Tomato BLT and she said it was a little greasy for her but she liked it.

“Enjoyable”
Reviewed October 31, 2013

We stopped in here after an afternoon carriage ride on a chilly, windy day and had a surprisingly good time. It was a little chilly for a pint so we opted for an irish coffee (ended up having 2) and a very good meal. Fish and chips were tasty and the prime rib was a pleasant surprise. Service was good and friendly without being overbearing. Would recommend drinks and food here to anyone who might be sightseeing in the area.
