Description: We are located in the Antique District on lower King Street. Our cuisine is traditional Italian and prepared at the moment. A few minutes of your patience is our quality. We offer a full bar and extensive wines by the glass, mostly Italian...a few California. We offer indoor and outdoor seating in our "cortile". Buon Appetito and Salute!

After a long day of walking around Savannah we wanted a restaurant close to our hotel Kings Courtyard Inn. This little place was right across the street! Delicious homemade pasta and dessert! They also offer a half portion which was just right for us! Nice atmosphere, friendly staff and prices very reasonable.

When the tourist crowds in Charleston get you down, and you can't get a reservation, and you don't want to wait an hour for a table, stroll over to Il Cortile Del Re for a hidden oasis away from the crowds. The food is always good and the service is exceptional. This is more in the nature of an authentic Italian restaurant than a fancy Italian restaurant. The pasta dishes, fresh fish, and wild boar are all good. They also have a very good wine selection. This is one of my favorite restaurants on a cold Winter's night or a Spring evening when the crowds flock to Charleston.

If you are looking for an ok-experience this is it. There is a nonchalance about everything here that serves to minimize the wow factor. Pasta was ok, service was the same...if a little more careless than ok..all in all not worthy of praise.

We arrived in Charleston from Savannah late in the afternoon - too late to make reservations where we wanted to have dinner so we went walking and based on a recommendation from a local (Kids on King) we found L Cortile Del Re. Not very impressive from the outside, but...

We both had the 'Spaghetti Alla Bolognese' - what a treat and some of the best we have ever happened across. If you are in the Charleston SC Historic District, give it a try and I don't think you will be disappointed.

The entire experience was great. The atmosphere, the server and the food. For starters we had the crostini which had four different toppings, very good. We tried the creamy tomato basil soup, it went great with the crostini, for the main courseI had the filet and my girlfriend had the fish of the day(grouper). Both were excellent and the portions were just enough not to be finished.
