Filet was outstanding-buttery, rich, smooth taste. Followed by their signature Coconut cake.... TO DIE FOR!!! Absolutely wonderful. Well worth the $$ spent!

I have been obsessed with foie gras since I had it for the first time in Strasbourg many years ago. So, I am always on the hunt for the "right stuff". Three friends and I had the extreme pleasure on a recent rainy evening of having dinner in the bar at the Peninsula. (I must say, I am glad I was there instead of the main dining room as we just weren't in the mood to be stuffy.)
When I saw that foie gras was on the menu,I didn't even read the other offerings.
It was beautifully silky and delicious and would have been fine on its own but they served it with a tiny biscuit and bbq'ed pulled pork. Odd and just OK.
The sommelier suggested a very nice Sancerre which we appreciated, it complemented all of our selections (lobster and oysters) just fine.
Our waitress was very knowledgeable and went above and beyond to serve us graciously, even bringing us a basket of reading glasses, as one in our party had left hers behind.
It's the little things that count!
We shared a piece of the gigantic coconut cake for dessert and it was gorgeous. I would have eaten the whole thing but decency told me to hold back a bit.
Two thumbs up!

We had a dinner program here for about 20 guests and experienced impeccable service and the divine culinary delights for which Charleston has come to be known. I would definitely return again to experience more on the menu and enjoy the pleasant ambiance of the Peninsula Grill.

Inside is quite noisey and stuffy, but outside was just delightful. Chicken dish was average, but the the goat cheese smashed potatoes were awesome! My husband's scallops were fabulous and dessert was great. We had the coconut cake and the chocolate cake. The whole meal was just wonderful.

Living in Charleston, it is sometimes difficult to choose where to eat, since we are blessed with so many great chefs and restaurants. I will admit that for the last decade I have overlooked Peninsula Grill as a dining option in the wake of new restaurant openings and the buzz associated with the newness. I had not eaten at Peninsula Grill since the Robert Carter days until last night. The entire experience was delightful. The staff has remained world class over the years and the atmosphere was very sophisticated, yet warm and welcoming. Graham Dailey's food was vibrant, playful and very well executed. Each plate that came out was beautiful and delicious and rivals any meal I've eaten in NYC. It is nice to know that this institution has maintained its level of excellence and continues to excel in a very competitive arena.
