I feel like I'm cheating reviewing this spot because we only had room service from the restaurant and breakfast, but everything was really good. Husband and I shared the Lobster “3 Way” (Lobster Ravioli, Lobster Tempura and Sautéed Lobster with Warm Tomato‐Basil Vinaigrette) and Pan Seared Carolina Trout with Shaved Brussels Sprouts, Blue Crab, Capers and Almond Brown Butter. And of course the famous Ultimate Coconut Cake® was creamy, coconut, yumminess. It didn't send me straight to a tropical beach just this side of heaven, like I thought I would after all the hubbub about that damn cake, but it was probably about as good as coconut cake can get. Lynn the hostess at our breakfast was awesome. I've had better biscuit gravy.

Thank you for your stay at the Planters Inn. We hope that you enjoyed Charleston and will return in the near future. Peninsula Grill does serve breakfast and provide room service for the Planters Inn. Unfortunately neither compares to the experience of dining at one of the South's premier restaurants, Peninsula Grill. From the moment you walk down the gas lit courtyard entrance you realize that you are in for a memorable evening. Peninsula Grill's longstanding professional staff welcomes you and guides you through an evening of culinary treats prepared by Chef Graham Dailey and his staff. If you need advise on a wine selection or pairing? Our Sommelier Dennis Perry is happy to guide you through our extensive list or our knowledgeable staff is always ready to make a suggestion. The ambiance, cuisine and service of Peninsula Grill has made us the place to dine in Charleston. We look forward to serving you on your next visit.

What a lovely and wonderful dinner and on New Year's Eve too. It was a price fixe $75. Per person, 3 course, but included some extras. First: service: impeccable without being overly bothersome. atmosphere was cozy and slightly formal, which made for a special evening . Drinks: perfect,,! Food: had lamb chops and truffle potatoes, hubby had lobster tail and filet...all perfectly prepared...desserts were delicious...just everything about the evening was top notch. I really can't imagine a more perfect meal and ambience. Would highly recommend

Thank you for celebrating the passing of 2013 and welcoming 2014 at Peninsula Grill. New Years Eve is the only night of the year that we set our nightly menu aside completely and have a multi-seating multi-course menu. It is amazing to see the execution and thrills of Chef Graham Dailey's New Years Eve menus. The room is electrified with excitement and there is a true celebratory feel to every seating. We hope that you make a New Years Eve tradition our of joining us at Peninsula Grill. It is the best way to start a new year.

Enjoyable dining at the finest restaurants we can find is a large part of our travel plans. Have eaten at many fine restaurants in the US, all over the Caribbean, and many other countries...and we both agree that Peninsula Grill just might be the absolute BEST! The entire experience was delightful. This is a well organized operation, wait staff eyeful of our every need. We appreciated those fine unexpected touches...overturned silverware, being asked if "our wine needed freshening", and "how were your first bites", instead of the tired "how is everything" I can best describe the ambience as understated elegance, and yet this restaurant is not at all "stuffy". Our waiter was fun, was able to describe every part of every dish, and actually paid attention to our order. He noticed that our initial appetizer selection was sauce heavy as was our entrée, alerted us to this, and suggested another. We took his advice. The food was creatively prepared and actually exciting! We enjoyed the lump crab spinach tomato salad with fried green tomatoes, and the seared scallops served on a browned crouton over garlic chive mash potatoes with lobster and spinach. We shared banana 'panna cotta' pudding with chocolate ganache and caramel sauce. Thank you for a truly memorable experience. Go eat there!!

Went to Peninsula Grill on advice from friends. Great food, great service, but a little pricey. The ambiance is awesome and the coconut cake is a trademark of the restaurant. Convenient location in the Planters Inn next to City Market.
