Had the oyster sampler and fish special. I was disappointed when they ran out of the local grouper but the halibut was great as well. The real amazing part was the risotto with large chunks of lobster. And...Of course the coconut cake, which we took most of it to go! My only negative was we were on time for our reservation and they made us awkwardly wait in the bar area for about ten minutes while a few other couples who walked in after us went straight to their table. Highly recommend!!!

Thank you for your wonderful review. I apologize for the awkward wait. We have addressed the issue and appreciate you bringing it to our attention. Chef Graham Dailey and his staff do showcase our cuisine through their nightly specials. Unfortunately, as was the case with the grouper, we have a limited supply each evening as it is an item purchased specifically for that night's service. I am glad that the Halibut was enjoyed. Thank you for the high recommendation. We look forward to your next visit.,

We stayed at Planter's Inn for several days. We heard so much about this restaurant, that we saved it for our last night in town, which proved to be a very wise choice. A not-too-large dining area, well decorated and very comfortable. A casual atmosphere, not necessarily formal in that you may leave the coat and tie at home if you wish.

Our table was ready at the prescribed time, and the hostess happily allowed us a few minutes to get a drink in the bar before being seated. Upon request, we were immediately ushered in to meet our very professional, top notch waiter Ralph. His knowledge of the specific preparation methods of the various menu options was exactly what we expected. The service was simply exceptional.

As to the food? The Foie Gras rivals that served at the French Room in Dallas. Oyster stew was truly amazing. In fact, the best that I have ever tried anywhere. The 3 way lobster app should not be overlooked. It too was an excellent choice. The filet and trout were so perfectly prepared, it is clear that true culinary genius resides in this kitchen.

If we had three nights to stay in Charleston, we would dine at Peninsula at least two of those nights. OK, very likely all three nights.

If you want to eat at the best restaurant in Charleston it would be hard to argue that this isn't the place. I've lived in the area for 5 years and had the pleasure to dine at many of the restaurants. This one is the best. Everything about this place is fantastic and the food is unbelievable. I had the lobster trio appetizer which literally did bring tears to my eyes - ask my wife. I mopped up the sauce with the fresh baked bread. For the main course I had the grouper over a blue crab succotash. Man it was good. My wife said her chicken was the best shed ever had. Great Ambience, great service. I

Thank you for such a lovely review. The Lobster 3 Ways is definately one of our most requested dishes and Chef Graham Dailey's menu doesn't slouch on other choices. The Lobster 3 Ways has stiff competition: The Jumbo Lump Crab Salad, Foie Gras, Seak Tartare, Lowcountry Oyster Stew are all worthy competition. We are thrilled that after repeat visits Peninsula Grill is your first choice when dining in Charleston. We hope that the food, service and ambiance continue to keep you coming back for more.
