We had high expectations having read other reviews and they not only were met but Peninsula grill was able to exceed them.

The service was impeccable, our little corner table was awesome, the atmosphere was very romantic, and the food delicious.

We brought our own wine (no corkage fee) and enjoyed a lot of sparkling water (not on bill). I mention those details as at a restaurant of this class the little things really set them apart.

It set a very relaxed tone that the waiter was not afraid of being tipped less due to us bringing our own wine (we adjust the tip up to accommodate for that), and it genuinely felt like being cared for to have a great night.

Another nice touch was leaving all the bottles at the table for the Madeira flight.

Thank you for such an outstanding review. Peninsula Grill has earned the reputation as the place to dine in Charleston by exceeding our guests expectations. It is our goal with every table every night. We hope that your experience has given you plenty of reasons to return. As with most restaurants, we do have a corkage fee. We do, on occation waive that fee as a courtesy for guests celebrating with a special bottle of wine. We also may waive the corkage fee if you purchase a number of bottles from us. I'm sure that you were celebrating with a special bottle which added to your wonderful time. We look forward to your next visit.

This meal ranks among the top meals of my life. I had deep-fried softshell crab and the catch of the day (red grouper) and it was absolutely amazing. The food was prepared flawlessly, with great flavours, and presented nicely. The service was also top-notch, with a very attentive and friendly server named Justin. For the quality of food, the price was very reasonable. I would highly recommend this restaurant, and will return if I find myself back in Charleston in the future.

This is a room service review. We stayed at the Planters Inn as the topsecret 4 star hotel for our visit to charleston. The crab cakes were good thats usually not my thing. The steak looked fantastic but it and the goat cheese mash potatoes were too salty. Beautifully crisp rare though. The robert baile zin was perfect.

Thank you for staying with us at the Planter's Inn. We are the perfect location to experience the best of what Charleston has to offer. I am sorry that your entree was overly seasoned. We would have gladly offered you replacements for the steak and potatoes had we been aware. We hate that you didn't enjoy them. I hope that you are able to join us in the dinning room on your next visit. The service and ambiance of our amazing restaurant combined with Chef Graham Dailey's cuisine for an experience unmatched in Charleston.

We probably don't have to tell others what is great about the Peninsula Grill. The ambience first of all. Then the service, then the food. Our server could not have been more well-attuned to the (leisurely) pace of our drinking and dining. If I remembered his name I would mention it here -- 5 stars to our server. I specially requested whether the steak (NY strip) au poivre could be replaced with the filet, prepared the same way -- no problem. It was simply excellent. My wife's grouper was a little dry, she thought that was a disappointment. Wines by the glass are not outrageously priced. If you are a visitor to Charleston and want to dine in a "fine" place, I recommend the Peninsula. If I were a resident of Charleston, and as someone who likes to dine out with my wife often, I would probably dine here 2-3 times a year, to give you a sense of its quality, ambience and affordability.

Thank you for all of the compliments. Joel was glad to receive your 5 star review of his service. The N.Y. Strip Au Poivre with the Filet substituted was an excellent choice. We are happy to accommodate special requests when possible. As you point out in your review our cuisine, service and atmosphere combine to make Peninsula Grill the place to dine in Charleston. We look forward to serving you again.
