“BBQ that's good and messy”
Reviewed November 7, 2013

Always skeptical of BBQ joints in tourist areas, a local basket maker directed us to Queology. We southerners know BBQ...and so does Queology. The pit master comes with 15 years of experience learning from the best before opening this small streetfront housed in the old Redeemer Church. The pulled pork was succulent and the ribs had the best dry rub I've tasted. The sides of mac and cheese and collards were surpassed only by their stellar potato salad. Add sweet tea designed to cause diabetic coma, a good sauce selection and very personable service and you've got a great "can't miss" BBQ experience

“Amazing BBQ”
Reviewed October 28, 2013

My husband and I were walking through the market when he smelled BBQ. Since we were both starving and had planned to find a place for lunch after visiting the market anyway, he insisted we follow his nose to the source of the incredible smells. His nose led us across the street to Queology. We sat at an outside table and people-watched while eating the most amazing BBQ I've had in a while. I had the pulled pork and my husband had the half chicken. He couldn't stop talking about whatever rub was used on the chicken. Although the menu was limited, the food was excellent.
They had Apple Orchard cider on draft so we had a couple glasses and were both impressed. Neither of us had ever had it on draft before...what a difference from the bottles! All in all, great meal, great waitress, and we would definitely visit again if and when we return to Charleston!

“BBQ and music, what more do you need”
Reviewed October 24, 2013

We were walking down Market street and heard this great bluesey music coming from this new BBQ joint. So we went in and had a beer or two and enjoyed listening and dancing to Shrimp City Slim. We enjoyed him so much that we went back 2 days later to have dinner and listen to him again. The BBQ ribs had a wonderful dry rub and tasty sauces. It's really a sports bar/BBQ joint, nothing pretentious, but we enjoyed our evenings there. Again we danced on a tiny little area on a rug, but we will and have danced just about anywhere. And Shrimp City Slim was extremely nice to us and quite talented. You've got to love the folks in Charleston.

“Good ribs”
Reviewed October 9, 2013

The ribs were good. I never eat the ribs dry, but I did this time. They were very juicy and tasty. The coleslaw was vinegar-based, which isn't my thing, but they were well done. The mac and cheese was tasteless and, in general pretty bad. Still the ribs were really pretty good.

“Excellent BBQ”
Reviewed October 9, 2013

I am not a BBQ person but my friend had the ribs and said they were excellent!!! Sauces are great!! Great little place to watch the game on on a Sunday. Service was excellent too. Very limited menu, no dessert. If you are looking for fancy, this is not it. Just good food. Full rack of ribs was $20.99. Chicken salad and a small bag of chips was $9.95 with no other sides. A bit pricey, but everything is pricey in Charleston, and usually worth it. Drinks were very reasonable.
