“Great new find!”
Reviewed March 24, 2013

Recently, on a rainy Saturday, we had lunch at the bar. We drank the house white wine which was crisp and delicious. We had the charcuterie platter which was excellent. It included pickled shrimp, meats and cheeses. Then we had the special pizza of the day (goat cheese and heirloom tomatoes). The pizza was awesome as well! Our bartender, EJ, was very knowledgeable about the restaurant, the chef and the menu. Diners included familes, couples, singles...a full range of ages.

“Another Pizza Option on James Island”
Reviewed March 12, 2013

The latest pizza joint to surface on James Island is located next to the Terrace Theater on Maybank Highway. The restaurant serves wood fired pizzas and starters ranging from chicken wings to charcuterie to arancini. My friends and I dined at the community table. The dining space is pretty small, seating approximately 50 guests including the bar seating. The service is polite and functional. We arrived pretty hungry and ordered the arancini, fried risotto balls stuffed with mozzarella and prosciutto, with a simple tomato sauce. The 3 risotto balls were quite large and would have been more appetizing if smaller. The tomato sauce was a bit too simple. It begged for a pinch of salt and herb. The pizza choices are varied, offering options for the vegetarian, meat lover and seafood fan. The Crustacean was the best choice. It featured shrimp, mozzarella and pesto. Though skimpy on the shrimp, it had decent flavors. The Butternut sounded great on the menu with roasted butternut squash, mushrooms, caramelized onions, goat cheese and truffle oil. I kept eating, hoping to experience the flavors I so anticipated. I found it dry, and quite lack luster. Again, seasoning was sorely lacking. Our final pizza selection was the Del Re. It claimed ham, mushroom, artichoke, olive, mozzarella, basil, vine ripened tomato sauce and grand padano as its ingredients. It was another pretty big disappointment. The prices are very fair, but the flavors just do not nearly live up to the menu billing. Not a bad time, but nothing to write home about.
