The rise of this place off the beaten path has been amazing to watch. Even better, we watch from inside with a ready fork and palate. The food is always amazing, this time the scallops! Being in the know, I hear of a new menu for the spring. The staples that have made this place so popular with us will stay, but I can't wait to see the new stuff. I'd like to see some Lamb or Pork done by the kitchen at Burwell's. They have steaks down to a science.

The bar is amazing too. Last week we had a cocktail that had been intensified using sous vide techniques! Two actually, a spicy margarita and another with all kinds of things I can't even remember. I just love all their interest in trying new ideas.

The energy here is why we love it. The building is gorgeous and rich with vibe. Thanks to everyone that helps this great little neighborhood steak place keep progressing. I enjoy it every time. Oh, and ask for a guy named swanky when you get your dessert. Awesome.

Craig,

You rock! We are "a bit of a secret" down here. No hype. No press. Just a great experience that guests talk about, share with their friends, and we keep growing with our local following. Thank you.

The motif is great except you can see the bar tv from the dining room. On a Monday night in February the place had three diners so we had plenty of good service. I had the hangar steak, which was excellent. My wife had crab cakes, which were average. More fry and little crab. Presentation good so overall experience was good. We would go back

We were here with a group for a tasting menu. Fair to say that we were waited on very well. Food delicious and well prepared. The skate was delicious! Perfectly cooked and served with farro. Nice side for a change. Tenderloin tips cooked on the 800. Degree stone was fun. Four sauces we well prepared. King Coffee was fabulous. Bought beans after the lunch at Caviar and Bananas. Will return next time I'm in town

The food is good no doubt and the appetizer was AMAZING it was on a stone grill and you cooked it. That is the part that made it good besides that the main course was good but expensive and not much to eat I was still hungry after our meal.

Went to Burwell's on Valentine's day.....in retrospect not a good pick. We have friends who love the place, but we had never been before so wanted to try it. Being Valentines day of course the place was overrun with diners, and at the bar. Having said that we arrived a little early and took a drink at the bar, but were still seated within a few minutes of our reservation time. Great atmosphere if you like a buzz. Appetizers were very good, and service was also very good. We both ordered the dry-aged strip, medium rare, and when the steaks arrived we were asked to check them, and found them to be over. Now I can usually manage a medium also, so not wanting to wait all over again we mentioned the fact they were over but declined to send them back. Halfway through, and I was regretting that decision, they were quite dry and chewy. Someone turned up at the table shortly after we started (the manager? who knows - they didn't introduce themselves) and asked how things were and we mentioned that the steaks were overdone. We were offered desserts to go (we picked the brownie but were charged anyway!!). I seemed like they were keen to put things right. Our friends were also dining there that night, and afterwards she told us she sent her steak back because it too was overdone! So it seems that quality control goes out the window when they are busy. One basic thing a good steak kitchen has to have down is the perfect temperatures. The sides were so-so - the sprouts were quite good, but the mac and cheese was decidedly bland. Asparagus was fine.
All in all, we probably picked a bad night when the kitchen was rushed and losing a little QC. Would we try it again on a 'normal' night - probably.
