Wow! This place is a real gem. Creative cocktails and menu. Service was outstanding too! New to Charleston and on a side street, but centrally located.

Coming from NYC to charleston I've had my share if great food and do consider my bf and I foodies . This place was outrageous
My boyfriends waygu hanger steak was more tender than any filet mignon I've ever had. I had the the wagyu sirloin and cooked it on hot lavar rock at the table! The rutabega mashed potatoes were awar as was the smores dessert and my ginger mojito . Besides a fun experience it was delicious. Highly reccomended.

Nicole,

Thank you for the "GREAT TITLE" and kind words. Yes, Wagyu is the premier beef in the US. We are just honored to have prepared it perfectly for you and made a great evening for you and your boyfriend. We can't wait to see you back even though NJ is a long ways away. Next visit, we hope you chose Burwell's again and again.

“Wonderful Anniversary”
Reviewed April 15, 2013 via mobile

We recently celebrated our anniversary at Burwell's and it was wonderful. I made the reservation online and let them know it was anniversary. Everyone was great. We were seated at the private table for 2 and given champagne. Our waiters were very knowledgable and made excellent recommendations. In addition, they were attentive but not obtrusive like so many other places. Our dinner included Seared Tuna, Pulled Pork Hush Puppies appetizers and Stoned Seared Rib Eye with the Duo of Brussels Sprouts for dinner. We love to split everything so we can enjoy a variety of food. It was excellent and plenty for the 2 of us (fortunately or unfortunately we didn't have room for dessert). Can't wait to return!!

“I can't recall the last time I had a dining experience like this”
Reviewed March 29, 2013 via mobile

When we told our friends we were going to Charleston and asking for recommendations, no one recommended this restaurant. I happened to consult TripAdvisor because we needed a Friday night restaurant because everything my wife found was booked.

It turns our that this is a relatively new restaurant (more later). We even stopped by earlier in the day to review the menu to make sure it was somewhere we wanted to follow through on. After reviewing the menu, and partially because if the prices, we decided it was worth the try.

We're we glad we stuck to our dining intuition. Don't let the very affordable prices fool you ... This is very much an upscale dining experience. We were impressed from the onset with the atmosphere and knowledgable wait staff's recommendations, our excellent server Eric recommended a nice pairing if wine, appetizer, and dessert.

Most unique are the hot stone steak appetizers that you cook yourself on a 700 degree slab of rock. What was most amazing was the port wine/Gorgonzola sauce for which I had to request extra for my surf and turf dinner (an extra $2, but worth it).

The dinner itself was delicious and affordable ($32!?!!). After dinner dessert was (a suggestion by Eric) a S'more truffle.

We sat and reflected on how perfect this meal was and how it was going to be on our 'MUST' list for visits and recommendations. Portions were very filling and service was amazing. Thanks to owners John & Ken for their hospitality. We'll be back!
