“The food is perfect, the service is awful !”
Reviewed January 21, 2013

The food was remarkable, the décor is amazing, the service was so bad it was unbelievable! From the time we sat down (promptly at 7) until dessert and coffee was 3 full hours. One in our party kept getting ice tea without any ice, so it happens, but how can it take 3 hours to serve one table? As I said the food was wonderful and very creative. The wine was beyond expectations ,the service was so very bad it was like somebody was playing a joke on us.
I may go back, the food was that good, but next time I'll walk out. It's really a shame it could be a perfect restaurant.

“Only stayed for appetizers.”
Reviewed December 29, 2012

Made reservations based on the online menu but was disappointed to find out the menu had been changed. Still had wine and appetizers which were very good. Management was very apologetic about menu. Nice place for a special quiet date night. Decor was very nice.

“CESCA Downtown Charleston Sc”
Reviewed December 11, 2012

can't wait for New Years Eve for not a better place to bring in the New Year. New York Quality Italian Food comes to downtown Charleston Sc. Add this place to reasons I don't miss NY CITY.
Traditional and NON Traditional Italian Fare in a Rich upscale decor. The decor cost alone would cover the cost of building a total so called corporate Italian Restaurant. No Chas. The Olive Garden is not an Italian Restaurant but Cesca is!. Great Staff and actual really he cares owner. Gorgeous bar and casual dine area also available to just sit with a glass of wine and nibble on appy's as you listen to the piano player. Wine list that surprised me and it's one that beats and place in town. Going to check couples below but it's good for all 5 selections

“Decor is romantic and cozy- New”
Reviewed September 12, 2012

We had been meaning to try this new restaurant and tried it during Restaurant Week. We were impressed as we were escorted to our table to see how beautiful it has been transformed from the previous restaurant. They are new- let's give them time. With this type of restaurant and menu you need more confidence and experienced wait staff as High Cotton. My husband did not care for his steak and I had the Risoto and it was wonderful. We did not recognize any wines by the glass and both of us made a good choice on our own. Have your wait staff suggest after we kept looking at the wine list. They could have asked what type of wine we drink and made a suggestion. In order for staff to be confident - they need tastings of food and wine and be able to suggest to their customers what the food and wine is all about. We love when our waiters suggest their favorites or something to try.We do not order a house wine as we have found they are not what we really drink. But our guess was good and we enjoyed our wine. In Charleston we have several Italian restaurants and each has a different region or type of Italian food that they offer. We love to explore the different regions. Italian is our favorite and we tend to go back time after time while at home- West Ashley or traveling. My husband and I are from NY and Chicago originally - so great restaurants are important to us. We also, tend to follow our great wait staff and bartenders as being a local "young" oldie.....So we hope to try the restaurant again after it has had time to work out the kinks. Dessert and coffee was wonderful..

“Pretty decor. Food, OK, there's better in town.”
Reviewed August 21, 2012

Well, the renovations are nice , brick in small bar left over from old building very nice.

Table was too small for four people. Appetizer of mozzarella and tomatoes (Caprese') was not good - homemade ( why make it, should get the original imported in overnight) mozzarella dry, tomatoes , hard to cut. Pasta was just OK , not great. Service, too over bearing, very pricey. Will not go back.

A lot of flash, but disappointing.
