When my grandsons, ages eleven and eight, came to visit from England, we had a two hour tour with Charleston Promenades. We were absolutely delighted! Martine Dulles knew exactly how to engage the boys and keep them interested for the entire time. Mrs. Dulles is perky and enthusiastic and even spoke some French to the boys, both of whom are studying the language. The tour was a delightful and educational experience for both children and adults. Both boys pronounced it "brilliant."

My husband and I had planned a long weekend to Charleston for a little getaway, and we wanted to make sure that we not only had time to relax but were able to truly appreciate the history and culture that Charleston has to offer. We were introduced to Martin Dulles through a family friend, and easily organized a tour the first morning of our trip. Immediately upon meeting her, we felt at ease. She is very approachable, sincere and has a wealth of knowledge. Through the plethera of historic stories, she shared personal experiences which made the history adn presence of the town come alive and more vibrant. Martin took her time in showing us the sites and made sure we had the chance to soak in our surroundings and get all of our questions answered. She also shared her personal favorite restaurants anda ctivities to enjoy, which is always very helpful! Thank you Martin for getting our feet wet and allowing us to leverage the lessons learned throughout the rest of our vacation...

My partner and I got in touch with Martine Dulles a couple of months before our trip to Charleston, and from our first exchanges her friendliness and enthusiasm came through. By the time of our visit I couldn't wait to meet her in person, and her charming personality and humor lived up to all my expectations and made our visit a true pleasure.

We can't imagine a better way to have begun our visit than with Martine's introduction to her lovely city. From the first moment, she treated us like friends visiting rather than tourists. As we walked around the beautiful old neighborhoods of Charleston, it seemed like every other passerby greeted her by name. She, in turn, knew entertaining stories about practically every historical and current resident of the city. She is a long-time resident herself, and knows an extraordinary amount about Charleston's history, architecture, art, society, gardens, and customs. She is is respectful of all these things, but also teasingly irreverent, and clearly delights in the eccentricities and ironies of her rightfully beloved city.

We could not recommend her more strongly, would hire her again without hesitation, and will be passing her name on to any friends who visit Charleston!

My wife, a friend and I spent a wonderful three days with Martine in Charleston.

In a city like Charleston, with some much to do and so many 'firsts' to see, having a guide with the knowledge and experience of Martine Dulles of Charleston Promedades is not just a necessity, but a treat. Martine actually met us the day before we arrived, in Beaufort, SC where we were scheduled to take a tour and have lunch, just so she could meet us and make sure that we were comfortable. She spent the next several hours with us and helped introduce us to the South.

In Charleston, we walked with Martine in the historic district. Martine lives there! We were greeted by other guides, neighbors and other tourists who had toured with her. The next day, we toured two of the plantations near the City, where she is one of the few guides qualified to guide visitors without the need of engaging a guide employed by the plantation. Again her knowledge experience and personality shined.

Since there was some much more to see and learn, and we got along so well, Martine spent the morning of our third and last day with us. New areas. New experiences.

We cannot wait to return to join Martine and learn more about the marvelous city.

My wife and son and I were recently in Charleston and our hotel arranged a walking tour w Martine Dulles of Charleston Promenades. We had a wonderful three hour tour of the old section of this great City and thoroughly enjoyed our time w MS Dulles.
She gave us a nice feel for the City as a whole and gave great insights into its history and architecture. She is very proud of her adopted City and has obviously committed herself to learning as much as possible. She is happy to share her insights and was a lovely companion in a new City. This was very worthwhile and is a great way to spend a morning or afternoon.
