“Huge hit for little boys”
Reviewed October 28, 2013

The cannons, muskets, guns etc.. Are a huge hit for little boys. We only stopped here due to the start of the pirate tour but it was a fun wait (don't say too often....). Well-curated gift shop

“Neat little museum”
Reviewed October 9, 2013

This museum is kind of neat and fun. However, I only gave it 3 stars because it is so small. For $5, I thought it should have had more. What was there was interesting, but it is really small.

“interesting place”
Reviewed September 12, 2013

A fun and educational stop. The interactive displays are a bit dated, but the information was easy to understand and truly fascinating. Caught the walking pirate tour out of here and loved it. Made Charleston a much more interesting place.

“Must see for the history buff”
Reviewed September 8, 2013

While small, The Powder Magazine packs a lot of history from the recently updated displays to the knowledgeable staff. Great selection of history books in the gift areas. The would be a great trip with kids old enough to appreciate the history lesson. There are interactive displays as well as 3-d models of early Charleston. You could be in and out in an hour. I would recommend adding this as 1 stop in a walking tour of Charleston.

“Another room Charleston calls a Museum”
Reviewed July 23, 2013

Here is another Museum that is a small room. Only in South Carolina are rooms museums. Small fee, 5.00 per person, but a lot if 3 or more for a "ROOM". Oldest building in Charleston and original, which is pretty cool, but you can view it outside without paying.
