We were aware before we went that this light house is out in the ocean now and we would simply look at it from the shore. You drive to the north end of Folly Island and the road ends. It used to go farther and you can park your car (but very few spaces and they are back up the road a few feet and on the east side of the road). You walk 1/4 mile on a deserted section of the road and at the very end it turns into a sand trail. You cannot see any part of the light house until you are on that trail. Then there is it. It is hauntingly beautiful...and there are some large boulders to sit on. It is worth a walk out there, but don't expect more than it can give you.

We had to search for the Morris Island Lighthouse. It is at the end of Folley Island. Parking is limited and you will have a long walk (partly paved, some of the walk through sand) to the lighthouse. Sand fleas were a problem when we went at dusk. The lighthouse, at high tide, is just about surrounded by water, so be sure to check the tide tables before beginning your walk. I do not believe you will be able to go in the lighthouse - we were there at dusk and it appeared to be vacant. At low tide, you should be able to walk around it. Currently, it sets lower than the sand dunes that you have to navigate in order to see it. There is some preservation effort to get it moved to another location so the ocean will not destroy it. We enjoy seeing lighthouses, so the walk was worth the effort.
