We thoroughly enjoyed our stay at the Church Street Inn. As others have stated, it's in the heart of the historical section of Charleston so it was an easy walk to MANY attractions (plus there is free dash on the trolleys). The Inn itself is nicely appointed and the staff is courteous and helpful. AND Charleston is such a lovely city. We would definitely recommend both the Inn and the city.

Excellent well equiped studio rooms on 2 levels. Extremely comfortable especially when the weather is bad outside. The staff were very friendly and helpful. We were really pleased that we booked the Church Street Inn as it was right in the heart and soul of the old quarter and within walking distance of everything. Would certainly stay here again.

Stayed there several times. It is one of our favorite places to stay in Charleston, because you can walk everywhere. The parking lot is across the street, which isn't great but we've had worse in a dense downtown area. Liked the feel of the place, which was more like a B&B/contemporary inn rather than a generic hotel. The full kitchen was awesome for saving money, and we really liked the staff help. They gave us recommendations on dinner locations, where NOT to go, and a bunch of other things. We would definitely stay there again (and we've been to The Charleston, by the way...for the money, we like Church Street Inn). Yes, it is loud--it's right in the heart of everything. But if you close the windows and run the A/C, it's like being anywhere else. To us, a small price to pay for being able to walk everywhere and enjoy Charleston! And we even lost some weight---ON VACATION! Whoo-hoo!

Room Tip: The one bedrooms are just fine. Don't go with the 2 unless you really need it.

I have stayed in this delightful inn several times within the past five years and keep returning due to the very attentive and helpful staff, lovely accommodations and great location within walking distance of most everything downtown Charleston has to offer. The Inn is in a cyclical renovation mode, so the unit I had this time was due for another renovation in 2015. However, while the sofa cushions were getting "soft", everything else seemed to be in excellent condition and the hallways had just been recarpeted and looked wonderful!

The staff is incredible, always willing to help and due to the small size of the Inn, generally calling each guest by name--VERY IMPRESSIVE!

Although this is a Festiva Vacation Club property, there was no pressure to attend a sales presentation, but definitely an incentive if you chose to do so.

There are one and two bedroom units here and I have stayed in both. All units are set up townhouse style, so if stairs are a problem, don't choose this Inn. This time I was in a 1 BR unit which had a full kitchen, living room/dining area combination and a half bath downstairs with the bedroom and full bath upstairs. I would recommend this unit for a couple alone or with small children who could sleep on the LR sleeper sofa. This is NOT a comfortable place for two couples unless they select the 2BR option of which there are very few.

I thoroughly enjoyed my stay and love the convenience of being able to walk to many, many restaurants as well as shopping venues, etc. The Inn is less than a block from City Market which is definitely the hub of all tourism activity!

Parking is expensive ($20 daily with a small discount for owners), but this is expected in a city downtown location.

I have a hard time leaving a negative review so I have developed a list of pros and cons in hopes it will help others when thinking about booking this hotel.

PROS:
Location - excellent - right across from the market and within walking distance to everything in the historic district.

Rooms - recently renovated and a great floor plan - two doubles upstairs and a pullout sofa downstairs - can easily accommodate 6. Also includes a balcony for fresh air and a small kitchen which was excellent (unless you like coffee - see below).

CONS:
Bait and Switch Style Service - when we arrived the front desk attendee was wonderful and explained to us we would have to pay for parking for one of our cars (we brought 2). Seemed reasonable to us. Upon check out we were charged for both cars. When we inquired about it and tried to explain our initial understanding (right or wrong, doesn't matter. It was how we were treated) the front desk attendant, Ben, said we were wrong and wouldn't even listen or try to explain. He simply looked down and ignored us.

Customer Service - in addition to the points above and below we found the customer service to be poor multiple other times, for example, when we had our hands full opening a door and they just sat at the desk and watched - even making a comment when we finally opened the door saying our hands looked full.

Nickled and Dimed - we stayed a total of two nights. We noticed too service didn't leave a bag of coffee for the coffee pot after the first night. When we went to the desk to ask for a small coffee bag they told us we would be charged for it - that they only provide a bag for one night, no matter the length of the trip. In addition, they also didn't provide us with additional shampoo - they expected 5 of us to use one small bottle for 2 nights.

Poor A/C - it's no surprise Charleston is hot. We visited in late April and the room couldn't even keep up with the temp set around 71. It was extremely warm in the rooms. I can't imagine how it might be in the middle of the summer.

Bath Problems - the bathroom tub was extremely slow draining. An a enrage length shower left us standing in water above our ankles. Also, hot water seems to run out quickly.

Loud Location - the drawback to the central location is the evening noise. We used a sound machine and were able to drown out the noise.
