“Absolutely The Best Place to Stay in Charleston”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed September 20, 2012

My husband and I come every year to Charleston to celebrate our anniversary and go to the Scottish Games in mid-Sept. This was our first year at 2 Meeting Street Inn. The ambiance is beyond compare. We are purchasing a mattress set just like the one here because it was like sleeping on a cloud. Who wants to leave the room when it is so beautiful? The entire house is gorgeous, with Tiffany Glass, and beautiful art & antiques all around. Staff made us feel so welcome, as if they treasured us. Breakfast was fine, sherry available all day, and the afternoon tea was fabulous. We decided this is the place we want to be every year. It's in the nicest section of the City and we went on a walking tour (bought a tour guide at Historic Charleston Foundation - 51 Meeting St.) and completed the walking tour in two segments. A very romantic place to be for sure.

Room Tip: All the rooms are excellent.

Have stayed at this venerable inn going on twenty years for most of our Charleston visits. Love the genteel lobby and southern hospitality. Great breakfast repast and enjoy the cocktail hour inside or outside in the charming courtyard. GREAT location in the middle of all the best sights, restaurants and shops, highly recommend, we love this place.

Room Tip: Just over the lobby to sit on the balcony and watch the world go by

We spent three nights at the Inn. this was one of the best experiences we have ever had at a hotel or inn. the variety of food, from breakfast to afternoon tea, was perfect. the warm reception, the friendly and helpful staff, and the veranda surrounding the Inn all made for a relaxing and enjoyable time. we had a few challenges that the gracious staff helped us during
our stay. this is as close to a perfect "Bed and Breakfast" location as one could ask. a great experience, one we hope to repeat in the future!

Room Tip: book early!

fabulous home and location with tons of charm and southern hospitality! you will want for nothing ... breakfasts are generous ( perhaps too? ) and afternoon tea is delightful. my room on the third floor, while less "grand" than some of the others was nicely furnished, cozy and wonderfully private. staff was friendly and helpful and i look forward to returning!

My wife and I recently spent one night at the Inn and were delighted with our stay. This was one of the best experiences we've had at a hotel or inn.

The house and grounds are incredibly charming, and sitting on the big, shady veranda in the evening is worth the price alone. The location is great - across the street from the tranquil White Point Gardens park, the waterfront and the battery. The breakfast, included in the rate, was delicious - Crème brûlée french toast with sausage and fruit. (I believe it's different every day.) We ate at a small garden table just off the porch and our surroundings were so picturesque we had to force ourselves to put the camera away.

Ours was one of the smaller rooms (#8, third floor, The Granite Room), but was completely comfortable and beautifully furnished, with a full bath and a small window seat.

The service and staff were wonderful. From the moment we arrived, they treated us like good friends and made us feel they were genuinely happy we were visiting. So often these days, the term 'southern hospitality' seems to be a cliché sales pitch, but here it feels genuine. They clearly know how it should be done.

Our only complaint is that our visit was too short, and we're looking forward and returning when we can stay longer.

My husband and I just celebrated our anniversary by staying two nights in room number 7. This is one of their charming rooms and it is so appropriately named. Number 7 was beautifully decorated and was very comfortable. The service at this inn was impeccable. They took care of our luggage and all of our dining reservations. They provided towels, chairs and an umbrella for our trip to Folly Beach. I have gluten sensitivities and they went out of their way to make sure my breakfast each morning was gluten free. I was even given a peach ice tea in a to go cup before I headed out to explore the historic district. I simply can not say enough wonderful things about this inn and the people who run it. My husband and I will not only return but will tell all our friends about them. Thank you so much for helping to make our anniversary wonderful !!!!

We can see why Two Meeting Street gets such rave reviews - it has everything. Great building in a super location for old Charleston, fantastic service and staff, really good breakfasts and some other nice touches like sherry left out for guests. We stayed for 3 nights in May during a 4 week trip around the Carolinas and Georgia. The room was on the ground floor but quiet and very comfortable.
The staff had recommended restaurants and made the booking we requested before we arrived - and they were all excellent. The owner doesn't live on site but is a regular visitor to meet the guests - the house has been in the family for a long time so there is a real pride in what is offered and in the standards set. Just one illustration of how they get it right - after we returned home we found a 'thank you' note for the tip we had left which had been written and mailed to us in the UK . Never had that before!
