We had two rooms next to each other. Rooms were clean and comfortable, and stocked with all typical supplies. Breakfast buffet is hot and fresh and good to fuel up quickly for a day of site seeing. After one day in the room, we returned late in the evening to find the air condition was leaking on the floor - carpet was quite wet. Their staff fixed it the next day while we were out but despite leaving a fan on carpet room smelled dank. Staff was very apologetic and relocated us to up graded room at no charge. Since we had specifically requested side by side rooms, they relocated the other room as well. A sign of a good business is how they handle problems and we were very satisfied with their service. Would certainly stay here again.

I realize it is summer and that rates are as high as the humidity in Charleston, but this hotel and its rooms are in need of freshening up and updating. For the money ($200), I would expect better. But it was full and folks were happy at the breakfast so it isn't all bad.

My wife and I spent July 6, 7, and 8 in Charleston. We chose a Hampton Inn to stay at because we are never disappointed with them. This hotel is a nice property with a friendly staff and a great location close to some very good restaurants. The Visitor's Center was across the street and we were able to catch the free trolley with no problems. We would have no problem recommending this hotel to others. We will return.

This a great hotel to stay at if you are visiting Charleston. It is located right across the street from the visitors center and all of the free trolley's have drive by the hotel. The hotel staff is very friendly and welcoming and the rooms were really clean.

Located in a historic bldg near lots of things. Across the street from visitors center and trolley stop that picks up all 3 trolley lines. So convenient. Some historic houses are nearby for touring too. Usual AM bkfst and beds for Hampton. Nice place. Desk attendants were polite and helpful. Would return.

I travel quit a bit for work, and when I stay in Charleston, SC I usually stay here. It is pretty well located (though a few blocks away from the battery if its REALLY hot) with very standard rooms for the Hampton Inn. There is a parking garage attached to the hotel, the staff has never been anything but helpful and friendly, and there are a bunch of great restaurants that are within easy walking distance

We look forward to staying here every year. We rate it excellent because of the courtyard room with a few steps to the pool; the tables in the courtyard where we eat breakfast every morning; the very courteous service we get, as well as easy access to downtown. The breakfast is better than most, and milk, juice and coffee are available all day. At some point, fresh baked cookies are also available. The courtyard is very beautiful with blooming trees, etc. The visitor center is across the street, if you choose to take tours, etc . On the down side, given the high humidity in Charleston, the rooms could use an air freshener. We are also unable to park in the attached parking garage because of the luggage carrier on our car. So, we have to park a block away and pay the city fee for parking. The fee might be the same regardless, not sure about that. At any rate, we accept the few negatives because we enjoy our stay. We hope they will keep rates at a more reasonable level so we can continue to stay here.

Room Tip: We love ground floor courtyard with a door you can enter from outside.
