Stayed both coming north and returning south on a recent visit to NC from Tampa. For our trip and needs, this Hampton is very well located and is clean and nice, Friendly staff, looks new, close to many food options. Just down the street from some good restaurants and a resonable drive to the historic district.

The traffic into the city an back was very congested in the city on one leg of our trip due to a festival, but was easily dodged by driving side streets. If you want to walk Charleston, this is not the spot. If you are moving about by car, this is not a bad base camp.

Typical Hampton: typical breakfast menu and typical amenities here, but this is in the top 30% of the Hampton world in terms of appearance and attention to cleanliness.

Sorry we missed the Managers reception. This reception was not expected at all, and is not very common at the Hamptons we have used.

Overall, this is a good place to stay over in Chareston for short visits, and above average for a Hampton.

Wanted to stay where I didn't mind driving into Charleston to see the sites and maybe save some money over higher priced places in historic Charleston. This was about 25 minutes into historic area depending on time of day and traffic. Hotel was just adequate. Breakfast was so bad - nothing fresh or homemade. Got a suite with a kitchenette but it had no plates/glasses/silverware to use if you wanted to heat something up in microwave or fix your own meal. Also had a whirlpool tub with a shower. It was difficult to stand in to use shower as the floor sloped due to drainage in middle of tub. Overall, would rather have paid more to be closer to downtown sites.

did not expect a mgrs. reception, free beers, wine, cheese and snacks etc. very nice. Pool area and fitness center were way above average. Front desk staff were so friendly and knowledgeable, 5 miles from downtown, convenient. My wife and I were very happy!

Room Tip: Rm. 200 was great, right across from the elevator and computer center

My boyfriend and I stayed here one weekend, and we were very happy with it. The bed was awesome, very comfortable. 10 minutes after we checked in, someone called to make sure we were happy with the room, which I thought was a great touch and good service. As far as location, you'll have to drive to downtown or the beach, but it's not too bad. If you're going out and cabbing it, a cab will run you about $20-25 one way to downtown. Oh and girls, lots of counter space in the bathroom :)

Excellent place. I have a relative in ICU at St. Francis Hospital, one mile away. Staff was very supportive and extended my stay even though it was a holiday weekend. Everyone was very helpful during a very trying time. Room was clean and quiet. Bed was very comfortable. Complimentary breakfast was good, plus the close proximity to the hospital was also a great help.
I would certainly recommend this facility very highly to anyone traveling to this area.

I really enjoyed my stay at this Hampton Inn - one of the best in my opinion. Lobby is very nice and they offer a great complimentary manager's reception. The room had a slight odor, but was very quiet and comfortable. The pool area was beautiful and there is a small exercise room with two treadmills, a bike and a stairmaster. Breakfast was a bit better than most Hampton Inn's and they even had Krispy Kreme donuts. It's not far to downtown or the beach and right on 17 - pretty hard to beat this hotel!

Three friends stayed in a 2 room king suite with kitchen and it was spacious and excellent. The only reason I can't give it a 5 star is that the sofabed on which the 3rd person slept was terrible. We called the desk and immediately they suggested a rollaway and sent it right up. It was not nearly as bad as the sofa! Other than that, this suite was excellent. The amenities of breakfast, and evening cocktail hour were both very, very good. If you get there in the evening when the cookies are fresh from the oven you will not be able to eat just one!
Every employee we had contact with was so gracious and friendly - not even one person wasn't just wonderful to us. I want to go back to Charleston and stay there. We had a lot of dealings with Darrin (spelling?) who checked us in on April 29, and all 3 of us just fell in love with him.
Great place.
