I love this place!

5.0 of 5 bubblesReviewed Oct 27, 2013
We decamped to this place after a miserable night at the days inn historic district Charleston and it seemed like heaven. I really liked the location-on the edge of the historic district but in a good location for a bunch of great new restaurants.
Hit the concierge Kevin right away. I'm really good a researching a trip but I could never have had the local info he provided. He asks a bunch of questions and really tailors his recommendations to your tastes. Tip him well! I wish there was a Kevin in every city I visit.
I had a government rate and it was a very good deal, I would love to come back!

Dear mmdwalsh,

Thank you for your feedback and being a Senior Contributor on TripAdvisor.

I would completely agree that the restaurant scene is exploding around our hotel here in Charleston. Our location offers prime access to all of the new and cutting edge restaurants that are opening up on King Street. These restaurants push the envelope on a variety of cuisines and offer some really exceptional dining experiences.

Our guests spend a lot of time researching things and places to see before arriving in Charleston. So many of them end up scraping their plans after they speak to Kevin though. It seems he was able to have this effect on your trip and make sure you got a true local perspective on the city.

Thank you for your business and we hope you will stay with us again soon.

Sincerely,
Grant Hoskins

We had read good reviews of the concierge at this hotel, Kevin McQuade, but mere words don't do the guy justice! He absolutely knows all the best attractions in the city, and watching him pull maps, brochures and reservations together is poetry in motion. We had basically one day in Charleston, and the day he planned for us was amazing. We did it all -- a walking tour with a guide, a separate walking tour on our own that Kevin mapped out for us, an eco-boat tour of the barrier islands at sunset, a dinner reservation at an outstanding restaurant . . .and at the end of the day, Kevin took us on a private late-night tour of the historic district by gaslight and moonlight. It was magical! We were sorry to leave the next day for Savannah, but Kevin remained our guide (figuratively speaking) as he had directed us to tour a plantation and the ruins of an old church along the way. He even booked us on a great walking tour and secured hard-to-get dinner reservations at the Pink House in Savannah. Thanks to Kevin, this was one of our best vacations ever! If you plan to stay at this hotel -- and it's a friendly, comfortable hotel in a great location -- just put yourself in Kevin's hands. No matter how long you're staying, you won't be disappointed!

Dear 41488,

Thank you for your feedback and staying with us on your vacation to Charleston.

It appears Kevin was able to blow you away even though you only had a short amount of time with us here in Charleston. Even if you only have time for one breakfast, Kevin can ensure that it is the best possible experience and something you will go home talking about. It is great to here that he made your vacation! We hope you will return again for a longer stay and enjoy even more of what the city has to offer.

Sincerely,

we stayed here for 2 nights Oct 18-20 2013 and right from the time we checked in the staff were very friendly and even showed us menus to help with our selection for a place for dinner as it had gone past 8pm. we were also with in walking distance to almost everything! thanks to Thad for all his tips, not only in the city but he also gave us tips on where to go as we traveled on to Shem Creek and areas around Charleston. We had a great stay and would go back again!

Just back from 4 days in Charleston (great city!), and found the Courtyard to be excellent value, and a great location. Best of all, it had the very best concierge (my girls call him Uber Concierge), named Kevin. He was the most positive, energetic, helpful guide I have come across in my many years of global travel. I would book this hotel again just to access his services. He definitely gave us experiences that we would not have gotten from other concierge's, guide books, etc. He has his own maps (best public bathrooms in town, best walking tour, best bike tour, etc.). He put us on to a night time ghost tour that we really enjoyed. Really pleased to see the other reviews that had the same great experience with Kevin. He made our trip!

Room tip: Take advantage of the concierge!

I got this hotel online with Marriott and was totally satisfied. It's a great location. Within walking distance to the visitor's center, area resturants and Kevin the concierge was great. He referred us to a couple of places to eat that were wonderful. But, then again, I don't know if there is a bad meal to be had in this wonderful city.

Dear Doug F,

Thank you for your feedback and for staying with us on your trip from Massachusetts.

I couldn't agree more that it truly is hard to find a bad restaurant in Charleston. There are so many delicious options that cover so many different types of cuisine. Whether you are looking for your all-time favorite dish or for something completely out of the box, the restaurants of Charleston can make it happen for you.

My husband and I spent two days in Charleston , S.C. Sept 29th and 30th. The property is in the heart of the historic district so within walking distance to much history. The consierge, Kevin, was most helpfulwith his suggestions and maps that he designed. His suggestion of the walking tour by Tommy Dew was the best.

Dear Citrus2013,

Thank you for your feedback and for staying with us on your recent trip from Utah.

I am glad to hear you were able to experience all of the history that surrounds our hotel. Historic gardens, houses, churches, and much more are just feet away no matter which direction you go out our front door. Our guests are always elated when they learn that everything they want to see is no more than a short walk away.

Kevin's unique maps can truly change your trip and remove a majority of the detractors that come from touring a city. It sounds like you all found them quite useful and made the most of your trip to Charleston.

We hope to see you again soon.
