My wife and I went to Charleston for our 15th wedding anniversary. Upon arrival we met with the concierge, Kevin McQuade. What an excellent choice. Short on time and not knowing our way around Charleston Kevin completely mapped our itinerary out for each day. He spent nearly 1.5 hours with us about likes/dislikes and made excellent recommendation after excellent recommendation. He truly not only contributes to the Marriott but to the travel industry in general. I wish we could have his services on every trip! He is extremely proud and passionate about the Charleston area (as he should be -it's a great city!) and it shows through his enthusiasm for him providing concierge services. His custom maps (yes, custom made it himself maps with exact instructions on where and how you should take photographs of the incredible architecture in the Charleston area was just amazing. I have never seen any concierge do this before -he knows Charleston and is well versed on all the sites, historical knowledge, and customizes those to your liking. I couldn't believe how well he could put together an itinerary so quickly but also booked multiple restaurant reservations at excellent locations - again customized to our likes. He truly listens to his customers.
To top this off and still the highlight of our trip is the nighttime tour of Charleston he took us on. This was one of those priceless moments that was just fantastic as we walked the historic district and viewed multiple homes from the streets and the well-known and absolutely beautiful gardens within their grounds. We would have never done this ourselves and Kevin literally walked with us for nearly two hours in Charleston where captured great photos and again just fantastic memories. At one point, to capture a great and unique picture of my wife and I Kevin laid on the ground to get the photo. Frankly, I cannot speak highly enough of him. He went way beyond even great concierge service and truly wanted us to enjoy Charleston culture, architecture, and art that city has to offer. My wife and I still talk about this late night tour - it was the highlight of our trip.
If you go to Charleston you should call Kevin McQuade and book your hotel here. The Marriott itself is great but he makes this hotel incredible and can make your trip a fantastic and memorable experience you will not forget. I have never been so impressed with concierge service in my life and I have traveled internationally and domestically numerous times.
