“Great location, great concierge”
4 of 5 bubbles Reviewed June 24, 2011

The rooms are new or have been renovated with modern fixtures and furniture, down comforter etc. Starbucks in the lobby. Great for walking around Charleston. The concierge is very helpful and has his own maps and can get you into the best restaurants.

My husband knew I had wanted to go to Charleston for quite some time so he decided to take me this past weekend. We had plans to stay at another Marriott originally but after learning about the fabulous concierge he moved our reservation to the Courtyard - Charleston Historic District and I am SO THRILLED he did.

First, I should start by saying that the hotel is so very clean, comfortable and beautiful. They have done such a wonderful job with the remodeling. It has a very trendy but warm feel which is seen throughout the hotel. Our room was a very large king room with a nice couch/sitting area and spacious bathroom. It had all the amenities including a fridge, coffee pot, iron, etc. I would stay here again just for these reasons, but that’s just the beginning.

The staff is TOP NOTCH. I had the pleasure of speaking to the bar/restaurant staff, front desk, bell hop, and housekeeping and everyone was extremely accommodating, friendly and knowledgeable.

Then there is the Concierge, Kevin McQuade.... who is spectacular! One a scale of 1 - 10, his service, personality and knowledge of Charleston is a 100. We met with Kevin within the first 20 minutes of arriving at the hotel and we are so happy we did because he happily made our entire itinerary for the weekend (which we asked him to do). He told us all about Charleston, the tours, the sightseeing and the restaurants. He booked us several sightseeing tours that were all wonderful and made us reservations at great restaurants (one that was totally booked but he was still able to get us in). Not only did he find us the best tours and restaurants, but he even had made maps of the area with his recommendations for the best pictures, best streets, best shopping and even best (and cleanest) bathrooms in downtown. PLUS, he gave us little cards to tell us how to get everywhere that even included what items on the menu the chef’s personally recommended at their restaurants. Just when I thought it couldn’t get any better… it did. Kevin took the two of us on a personal night tour of the historic downtown that included some of the most amazing homes, gardens and photo op’s that the city has to offer. Hands down, this tour was our most favorite thing in Charleston. Not only is Kevin the most amazing concierge I have ever seen, but he is one of the kindest, caring and friendliest people that I have ever had the pleasure of meeting. I feel like we made a friend this weekend and I can’t wait to go back to see Kevin and stay at the Courtyard again.

Overall, one of the best hotel stay I have ever had along with the best service and hospitality ever! I would recommend this hotel and Kevin to everyone.

Housekeeping staff was rude. They never cleaned our room, no linens for the pullout bed, and we had to ask for clean towels multiple times before they responded. Will never stay there again!

First, I was really impressed to find out that the original hotel was a Holiday Inn just newly purchased and renovated by Marriott. Despite it being a few blocks walk to most of the downtown and other sites, it was adjacent to Marion Square, where the art exhibits to the Spoleto Festival took place. Amazing. But by far the highlight to this hotel is their concierge, Kevin McQuade. He is a perpetually upbeat, insightful and knowledgable person about all aspects of Charleston. He, essentially, planned our weekend for us abd did not skip a beat. It found it of value to sit down and get to know us a bit so he could customize our
itinerary. Kevin even went above and beyond and gave us an amazing personal your of his own in the nooks and crannies of
Charleston, places one usually doesnt get to see because they don't know about it. We have been to Charleston more than a handful of times. This was the best experience thus far. We owe that to the assistance and knowledge of Kevin.

We were 3 college roommates on a vacation after many years of not seeing each other. We stopped at concierge's desk on arrival to set up a Spa appointment - what we got was unforgettable weekend! Kevin was great! He had wonderful suggestions for dinner and made all the arrangements. He had wonderful suggestions for activities too!

We were going to have a good time no matter what we did - but because of Kevin, we had the best possible time with some of the best memories!

The rooms were beautiful and clean. The pool was very nice. The location was perfect for seeing the best parts of Charleston. The breakfast was the only thing we would have changed - it is not complimentary and very limited in selection.

When I come back to Charleston - I will stay at this hotel.

A group of girlfriends and I spent a night at the Courtyard Marriott the 2nd weekend in June-- and it was great! Location was perfect walking distance to all the shopping and restaurants (just a few blocks away but so much less costly)! Beds were quite comfortable, rooms were nice, lobby looked nice. The only thing I didn't like was the coffee I bought at the little restaurant in lobby (YUCK!). Otherwise, a GREAT experience and would definitely recommend!!

This new property is really the best value in Charleston if your not going to go the B & B route, as its really new, super easy location, and a concierge thats as good as any I have met in my worldly travels.

They are adding a new wing, so it can be a tad noisy at times and but we were not around during the day much to notice, and we were on the front too.

The staff and rooms here are very nice, and you cant go wrong.
