My wife and I were looking for a final getaway before our little girl was born in July. Charleston peaked our interest immediately as it was close enough for a weekend excursion and we had been yearning for some contact with the water.
Upon arrival we were greatly pleased with the service and quite blown away with the newly refinished lobby area and very cozy room. We did not plan much ahead of time because we weren't sure just what my wife would be able to handle. But that was okay because we met a Charleston guru in Kevin McQuade. The concierge spent over an hour with us planning each minute detail of our trip. We were only there for a weekend, but beause of his planning and knowledge we were able to get more out of Charleston then we ever could have imagined. He planned photo hunts, walking tours, rickshaw rides, dinner reservations, plantation visits and sunset boat trips. We genuinely could not have gotten nearly as much out of this charming little city without his help. Thank you so much for making our anniversary so incredibly special.

We had a nice stay at the Courtyard Charleston Historic District. The hotel has been recently renovated, and it was quite clean and our room was very quiet. As another reviewer mentioned, it is a bit removed from the heart of historic Charleston, but it is walkable, and there is a free trolly that travels down King Street and back up Meeting Street.

The concierge desk service was excellent. Kevin, the lead concierge, was training Elizabeth while they were working with us. We started by asking for a suggestion on what to do in Charleston, and we ended up with a well planned weekend. Kevin and Elizabeth booked us on a walking tour, arranged tickets for the house and garden tour, made meal reservations (reasonably priced restaurants with great food). We took the time to photograph many of the locations suggested by Kevin.

Kevin even helped us plan our trip to Hilton Head. We told them that we wanted to see Beaufort on our way, and Kevin told us about the Sheldon Church ruins (which we visited), gave us a map of Beaufort that highlighted a route to take to see the best homes, referred us to a walking tour, told us about the chocolate shop, and even recommended that we eat lunch at The Wren (which was awesome!). We were told that Pat Conroy frequently eats at The Wren, but he didn't show up while we were there. Beaufort was well worth the visit.

If you stay at this hotel, you must stop by the concierge desk and let them guide you through a great time in Charleston.

Just returned from a weekend here. I lived in Charleston several years ago and know how difficulty finding parking can be. This location was perfect, as it allowed us to walk easily to dinner and shopping. Didn't use our car until it was time to leave... Newly remodeled, very clean and fairly up-to-date. Already had plans for the weekend, so didn't get to try out the concierge that is getting all of the rave reviews....

While the Courtyard by Marriott in the Charleston Historic District is a nice place to stay, although somewhat removed from the main area of the historic district, the main reason for being there is the great services provided by their concierge, Kevin McQuade. I was there in a large group and the hotel was fully booked as the weekend was the beginning of the well known house and garden tour. Despite many people wanting Kevin's services, he appeared to manage to satify everyone's requirements and provided us excellent restaurant recommendations (and not just the pricey ones), ideas about experiencing the true Charleston, made transportation arrangements and even invited a small group of us to take a night walking tour with him that was a highlight of the trip. When I return to Charleston, and I do promise myself that, I will stay at the Courtyard by Marriott, solely because Kevin is there. Many thanks for a great experience in a wonderful city!

We read about this hotel on Trip Advisor and thought that this would be a nice place to stay - it's close to everything. We were curious about the reviews here and the mention of the concierge Kevin. The reviews are correct: Kevin McQuade is amazing.

Charleston is wonderful, but Kevin truly made our vacation amazing! We visited Kevin’s desk simply looking for a recommendation for dinner. Not only did we get a recommendation for dinner, but an hour later Kevin planned our vacation. We booked a boat trip to a lighthouse and had dinner reservations at great restaurants for the entire weekend. Sure, we had things we wanted to do in Charleston, but Kevin told us about things we didn’t think of or know about. Kevin even took us on a private tour of Charleston in the evening. Thank you, Kevin.

For the hotel itself, it was a tad dated, but nice. The pool area was lovely and we enjoyed some free time there. The nice bartender gave me a lime for my nasty jellyfish sting. We did have breakfast at the hotel on morning and it was good and typical for a hotel breakfast.

If we go back to Charleston, we are staying here!

My family and I enjoyed our stay at the Courtyard. It was conveniently located in the historic district-- we were able to walk everywhere. The absolute highlight of our trip was Kevin McQuade, Chief Concierge. He is so knowledgeable of Charleston and knew exactly what we would enjoy seeing. He planned everything so beautifully. My 15 year old daughter had a marvelous time. Kevin had so many useful tips and wonderful maps that he has created for his guests. He even has a map locating the best public rest rooms in historic Charleston (which is very important information to possess). He took such a personal interest in our vacation. He made it such a memorable experience for our family!
