Very nice hotel. Rooms are a bit small but very comfortable. Very good value. Nice lobby, nice staff. We were there for 2 nights. Good restaurants nearby. Did not use hotel restaurant.

The hotel is in a perfect location in downtown Charleston, equidistant between Rainbow row and the marketplace. I hadn't realized that there was no parking garage so we opted for the valet service which is $22. The ambiance is elegant and the staff efficient and friendly. The rooms are small but clean. The bathrooms are tiny.

I understand that the Mills House Hotel is very popular for weddings. I think we may have been on a floor surrounded by guests having attended a very spirited reception. At 11:30 there started a stampede of yelling, laughing and shrieking guests on our floor and that below us. Not sure if they were really this loud or if the acoustics are amazing but we could hear their plans for hitting the town quite clearly and in detail. They were all back again at 3:30a.m. just as boisterous as before. Although the hotel was very nice I am not sure I'd stay there again over the weekend as I do like a quieter hotel experience and we do have young children with us.

The Mills House was a very nice hotel for my first trip to Charleston and the concierge, Andra made it even better! Andra was over-the-top as far as helpful and fun. She made excellent dinner recommendations for us three nights in a row and booked reservations for us!

Room Tip: We were on the second floor on the patio side which was great because we could open our french door...

This was a great taste of downtown Charleston. The inside of the hotel gives you all the old time ambience and the feeling of richness for all guests. The only thing not quite up to the level of the remainder of the hotel was the bathroom floors. But overall a fantastic stay.

I stayed in the Mills House on a short family vacation in Charleston. The location of the hotel was excellent, right in the middle of the historic district. The accomodations were also very nice. The rooms has a southern feel to them and they had great service. Overall a great value for the price!

The Mills House is that classic hôtel of times long ago. Located in the middle of the Historic District, a short walk to every sight you may want to visit, the Mills House is NOT your typical Holiday Inn and it is wise that association is down played. We were greeted by uniformed door men, ushered to the front desk and roomed quickly. Our room was well appointed, albeit somewhat small by today's standards; and on the same level as the deck and pool deck. After a long day of walking it was nice to sit in the sun and relax. We did not eat lunch or dinner at the hôtel but did use the Bar. Service was attentive and they knew how to make a proper VO Manhattan. We did have breakfast, the eggs benedict was fair, the hollandaise sauce was from a mix, sad when it is so easy to make. We spent our days seeing the sights. When visiting a city for the first time it can be a bit overwhelming and the Concierge, Andra, put everyting in perspective for us, helped with dinner réservations and suggestions for places to have lunch, booked carriage rides, and ground transportation. I would recommend contacting Andra a few weeks prior to your visit to arrange dining réservations, they book up fast in Charleston.

Room Tip: Rooms that are on the inside of the hôtel, (Poolside) are quieter, friends stayed on the street side...

The hotel is very smart as they don't go out of the way to incorporate "Holiday Inn" into their branding. Otherwise, this is tip top hotel in the heart of Charleston. Excellent location, within walking distance to everything. Great brunch. Great service.

As a historic hotel, this one wins in both history and luxury in the Charleston area. I have many memorable family outings to this hotel for Easter. Enjoy!
