“Affordable and filled with laughs. It's like The Saturday Night Live of charleston.”

Owner description: Theatre 99 is Charleston's Home for Improv Comedy. It is not a comedy club as Trip Advisor has listed it as. It is a 130 seat theatre, not a club with tables. We specialize in improvisational comedy which is unscripted theatre. It makes for a very funny night. We just don't want users of Trip Advisor to come expecting stand up comics telling jokes on a microphone. Theatre 99 does host stand up comedy shows periodically, but our main focus is improve comedy on Wednesday, Friday and Saturday nights at 8:00 p.m. Thank you for supporting live performance!

“Fun evening! Great price.”
Reviewed July 29, 2012 via mobile

We really enjoyed the show. The theater is old and worn, but the seats are very comfortable. The skits were hilarious, and the comedy was fun and witty. The performers did a great job. They have a selection of beer and wine. Also, you need to get there really early if you want a chance at finding a parking place. The parking is very limited. Otherwise, give yourself time to park elsewhere and walk to the theater. The theater is easy to find. It's behind the bicycle shop which is on Meeting Street.
This was good, fun entertainment at an unbelievably good price. Tickets were only $10. I recommend reserving in advance.

“Off Broadway quality theater and comedy”
Reviewed July 8, 2012

We saw "One-Man StarWars" during the Spoleto Festival. The show was great, a funny and awe-inspiringly energetic performance! The other shows listed looked great; if we lived nearby I would be there all the time. The staff are both professional in running the place and clearly devoted to the artistic lifestyle.

“Fun Nite Out”
Reviewed January 2, 2012

We were looking for something to do and we thought we would take in a comedy club. We found Theatre 99 on the internet and figured we would try. Good choice. Very reasonable. The show we saw was 5 dollars each! It was an improv and you can purchase very reasonably priced beer and wine. It is upstairs over a bike shop on Meeting. Young and fun crowd.

“Great Comedy and probably the only thing you can do in Charleston for only 10 bucks!”
Reviewed December 5, 2011

My fiance and I went to the 8:00pm "Funny Bucket" on December 2nd and we had a great time. The cast is talented and the audience was warm and receptive.

If you go- Know that you can't park in the bike shop's lot. There's signs all over that say that, but it helps to know ahead of time. We had parked earlier in the day on Hassel st in the open lot and it wasn't too far of a walk.

When you get to the bike shop, you have to walk through the parking lot and around the back and up the slightly shady-looking staircase to get in. Don't be afraid.
