Charleston Place is elegant, friendly and beautiful. The lobby is absolutely stunning with an enormous crystal chandelier flanked by a double curving staircase. Our room was beautifully appointed but fairly small. The decor is exactly what you expect from the south. The garden restaurant for breakfast had excellent service and the food was delicious. Although we chose the continental, on the weekend it included smoked salmon and asparagus. The weekdays the continental includes biscuits and gravy and the "to die for" brioche in Carmel sauce. Start your day here! There are high end shops as part of the complex. The hotel is in walking distance to many fabulous restaurants and boutiques. I can't wait to return.

Dear barbinbarbados,

It sounds like you enjoyed your stay at Charleston Place. We are so glad to hear that you got to spend some time at The Palmetto Cafe and particularly delighted in the "to die for" brioche in carmel sauce. We truly appreciate your feedback and look forward to welcoming you back again soon.

Sincerely,
Paul Stracey

Great room that was clean, comfortable and spacious. Perfect setup... only flaw was the TV size. Very small to see in a double bed room.

The service was the best I have had yet s everyone was friendly, especially the housekeeping staff. (Added chocolates were the best!)

It's worth the trip!!!

Room Tip: Views are 100% better the higher you are.

This is a beautiful hotel that is situated within easy walking distance to stores, the market, great restaurants and historic buildings. The staff and food is exceptional and the room not only was beautiful but spotless. I would definitely stay there again when visiting Charleston. We stayed on the Club level which includes so many benefits in regards to food and drinks that I would choose this again.

Room Tip: No matter where you stay the view is lovely. The Club level is on the upper two floors.

I had a difficult situation evolve with a friend who needed emergency medical care. The staff, particularly, Robert Aiken, were fabulous. They were quick, discreet and caring.

I wound up being alone at the hotel for 3 days and felt absolutely at home - the concierge directed me to a great Ghost and Graveyard Tour. Treated myself in the evenings to dessert -had 2 immensely enjoyable ones - one at the Charleston place bar - peach/cornbread/blackberry compote/trifle ! Oh MY ! and another night at the tapas bar - an incredible pistachio cheesecake with expresso ice cream. My second trip to Charleston - love the city.... Roamed around and had lovely food at Fleet's Landing and Serat? - had oysters about 4 times..also the spa was relaxing and a lovely place to spend some time

I stayed here four nights as part of a conference. The location for the hotel situates you perfectly for walking anywhere in the Charleston Historic District. You are across the street from the Charleston Market, and right on King street with all the tony boutiques. You also are within walking distance of the historic battery park, aquarium, bay cruise meeting place. All in all, you do not need a car if you stay here. You are about 20 mins from the airport, so take a shuttle over.

The rooms are spacious, decorated in a very traditional Southern style - no modern furniture here! But it added to the charm. Beds were not quite as comfortable as other hotels I've stayed at (Marriott, Hyatt, Hilton) but were serviceable. The meeting rooms were fine, and the food was good. The banquet staff was a little too efficient and curt for my tastes, but since the conference was not long - not a big issue.

Staff was very friendly, concierge was helpful. The shuttles back to the airport were the nicest I've ever seen (they use a limo service and you take Cadillac Escalades!)

It is a beautiful hotel, but not inexpensive. Your location is what you pay for. Two onsite restaurants, one very pricey. I would suggest venturing out on your own though. There are so many REALLY good restaurants within walking distance. Try Poogan's Porch - amazing low country cuisine in an old Charleston house.

This trip was for three nights with three college friends. We each had a room on the club level. I recommend the 8th floor, so you can walk out of your door straight to where the food and tea and cocktails are served.
I called ahead to get reservations at different restaurants and ask about excursions and the concierge was incredibly helpful. The valets each day were also wonderful with directions if we needed the car or a taxi (only once to go to North King Street). The night service was also great with weather hints for the next day and lovely turn down treats - benne wafers, different chocolates, - each night something different.
The spa staff are top rate and the staff in the Thoroughbred Club are also friendly.
You MUST eat in the Charleston Grill - it's the BEST restaurant in Charleston and ask for Brian Austin. He's been there for ages and knows everything about everything.
The hotel is in the heart of the shopping district and historic district, so it's central to everything!

Room Tip: Club level 8th floor has the best service.

This is a great hotel to stay in. We have been to Charleston several times and this is the first time we have stayed here. The bell hops and the staff were so great. They provided extra toiletries to my friend who left her makeup bag at home.

The best thing about this hotel is the location. The rooms are clean, maybe a little small, but still well worth the price to stay in the middle of the city at the heart of everything to enjoy in Charleston. We will recommend staying here and will do the same next time we come to visit.

Room Tip: Ask them if the rooms vary a good bit in sizes. We may have just gotten a corner room or something...
