Very nice hotel and very nice, helpful staff. Nice room but, nothing so great I could not get at a lower price hotel. Did not eat in restaurant, so cannot rate that. Nice spa and a bit disappointed pool was indoors, thought from website it was outdoors on roof. Good location but, more of a business hotel than leisure. Do not know if I would stay again but, cannot say anything bad about this hotel.

Firstly, the location is fantastic. Central to everything you want to do in Charleston and right around the corner from some great dining options. The staff was exceptionally friendly and always offering to help with anything we needed. The rooms were nice but not exceptional. We had a balcony room which was a nice touch but the market area was really noisy on the weekend. I think this is a great option if you need multiple rooms for business or family get -togethers but it is a different feel than the usual bed and breakfast type places we usually stay in Charleston. The spa was nice and they have a pool if you are interested in that. Parking was easier since there is a deck next door so that is a plus for this hotel since many others have a 1 car rule . I would stay there again for the great location alone but I would clarify that I want a quieter room next time.

Room Tip: The rooms overlooking the market are nice if you are not there on a weekend or if you are staying ou...

I have stayed in many of Charleston's finest hotels. I must say, Charleston Place was a disappointment. Housekeeping needs to step it up! Upon arrival to our room, we found multiple strands of hair in our bath tub and a spot of blood on the sofa. Also, sleeping in is not an option. You hear all noise from the hallways and neighboring rooms. The restaurant and bar are definately the best things about this hotel. Would recommend staying in another hotel and visiting The Charleston Grill and Bar.

I stayed for a business trip and spent a few days after for a brief vacation. The rooms were comfortable and so were the beds. The staff was very friendly and attentive. It is in a great location and accessible to all the restaurants and bars nearby. In addition, rhey provided all their guests with umbrellas, which came in handy sonce or rained quite a bit diring my stay. However, I will say my colleagues had a bad experience when someone fell near the hotel and broke their ankle and the staff would not call an ambulance as it was against their policy. That was an awful experience for her and this is why I didn't give it a full great rating .

Dear Dontmasnyc,

We are glad to hear that your experience at Charleston Place was pleasant, and that our staff was friendly and helpful during your stay.

As for the incident with your colleague, we would like to clarify. Your associate sprained her ankle on the city sidewalk and then walked to the hotel, where our staff was request to call 911. Our security team arrived and called for an ambulance through our local police department. It sounds like there may have been a miscommunication in understanding that help was on the way, and for this we apologize.

Outside of this incident it sounds like you had a near perfect experience. We hope that you don't let this misunderstanding effect your perception of our hotel and hope to have you stay with us again soon.

Sincerely,
Paul Stracey

I was in Charleston for a weekend of fun and a week of business and stayed in the Charleston Place hotel... Gorgeous with a super friendly staff; concierge always happy and willing to help (even before my trip via email), front desk, bell staff and cleaning crew all welcoming as if we were coming home! Fairly nicely appointed rooms to be expected from an almost 5 star hotel. The location is superb; in the middle of everything from bars, fine restaurants and lots of shopping on King St! (See my other bar and restaurant reviews from my Charleston experience) only negative thing was the last night, my hotel room ceiling was leaking so bc it was my last night and wasn't noticed till late, I couldn't tell you how fast they reacted. The bar inside was not very good though... Service was so so and drinks blah... So many cool places within a stones throw, don't waste your time there!! Can't speak for the restaurants, but the conference area was fantastic and very fitting for our group of about 200.

We stayed for 4 nights and the hotel and staff were amazing and the location was perfect to explore the gorgeous city of Charleston on foot and within driving distance of so many other beautiful beaches, plantations and scenic venues. The food was top notch as were the amenities, the room was spacious and elegant and we thoroughly enjoyed the piano bar for a relaxing nightcap. The experience at Charleston place and the charming people of Charleston ensured that we will go back.
