“Beautiful but hot!”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed August 30, 2011

Even with the timeratures as hot as they were we walked from the FQI to the waterpark and continued all along the seawall to the Battery. Here we walked the lengh marveling at the beautiful homes. There was always a wonderful breeze and we enjoyed it so much.. Thank goodness for the pedicabs whom we called and saved us the walk back!

“Battery, White Point, and the rest of historic downtown is the best”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed August 7, 2011

We walked all over Charleston today and it was the best. The area of Battery Park and White Point Park has many historic homes and buildings to see. The Battery Park area is great to walk down Market Street, East Battery, Murray Blvd sidewalk, and Meeting Street are good streets to see all the old homes with the preservation markers. Washington Square is a little in the area and is worth seeing too. There are some great churches to see along the roads and some graveyards to see how old the tombstones are. White Point park is great to see the corner of Charleston and the view of the ocean, there's a great walkway right on the edge to walk on, and there are monuments of Washington and cannons. Overall spend some time walking around this whole area, any street will not be a disappointment! Also check out how the curbs are granite, how most all sidewalks are the stone, some of the alleyways between roads, and the old horseposts in front of a few houses

“Beautiful section of Charleston, combine it with a walk and drive....”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed June 16, 2011

We enjoyed driving around the Battery a few times while visiting Charleston in May. It is a beautiful neighborhood filled with outstanding architecture, well manicured lawns, pretty gardens, large old trees, and stunning views of the water. We drove well into the neighborhood, seeing the different styles of homes. White Point Gardens is a lovely park, with lots of benches, historical aspects, lots of shade, and provides great people watching. You can watch the boat traffic on the water, and there is a sidewalk along the entire waterfront in the area. It proved to be a very popular place. Parking is along the street, but can be hard to find a spot. Definitely make it a point to see this wonderful area of Charleston on your visit.
