I went looking for a bike adventure in a part of the country my wife and I had never seen. I found Charleston Bike Tours via Tripadvisor because of its great recommendations. The recommendations are spot on. We did the Charleston Plantations and Quaint Towns tour. Alex and Karen did a wonderful job keeping everything on track and organized (there were 5 couples in our group). They arranged unique stops (Tea Plantation, Vodka Distillery, Plantation House, Historical Sites, and Gardens). It’s a great combination of sight seeing, historical tour and biking. This is not a heads down bike tour and the bikes provided are good, but not great (i.e. if you’re used to a high end road bike, you’ll need to set your sites lower). As I flew into Charleston, I wouldn’t recommend bringing your bike (cost vs. benefit isn’t there). Their bikes are very suitable. Each day the biking provided the right amount of physical activity so I could enjoy the wonderful meals arranged by Alex and Karen without feeling too guilty. The highlights; a picnic of local food prepared by Alex and Karen and a private dinner at Circa 1886 restaurant. My wife and I are thinking about returning to tour again with Alex and Karen on the Savannah and Beaufort Islands tour.
