From the moment my husband and I were picked up at the airport by Alex Graham , the Charleston Bicycle Tour owner we were treated like old friends. Alex brought us to a very nice resort on Mt. Pleasant Island just over the Ravenel Bridge where we met up w/ the other folks on the tour. We were fitted for our bikes and took them for a short spin. Alex and his wife Karen picked all of us up later and whisked us off to a nice restaurant on the water. The next morning we started the bike riding. Alex was an excellent tour guide evidenced by his deep knowledge of the area as we biked through different towns including Sullivan's Island.
One of the high points for me was the ride over the Ravenel Bridge into downtown Charleston on Sunday morning for breakfast at the Farmer's Market followed by the bike tour of historic Charleston.
From the hotel accomodations to the excellent restaurants we were treated to I would easily recommend Charleston Bicycle Tours to anyone who wants to visit Charleston and cover some ground. The pace was comfortable, the roads easy to navigate and the area very lovely to see. Coming from the northeast Charleston was a nice respite after a long winter. Thank you Alex and Karen Graham for a memorable vacation.

When we had a short weekend getaway in Charleston, we wanted to do something that was fun, educational and active. Having been on the horse drawn wagon rides, we were not really interested in a repeat. And not knowing Charleston, we didn’t have time to waste. We found Alex and he was flexible to work out a Saturday tour. It was fabulous. We rode bikes through the city and over the bridge to Mt Pleasant. Along the way, we would stop and Alex would share the history of Charleston. From the battery through the Market and the Citadel, and then over the bridge, we had a great time. Alex is so knowledgeable on Charleston's history and Karen is so kind and helpful. This bike tour far exceeded our expectations. We are not the the "extreme" bike rider types. So Charleston's flat terrain made for a very enjoyable time. Seeing this beautiful city from the seat of a bike provides a unique perspective. You are always engaged and when its over you feel great knowing you had a learning experience that was healthy as well. We would certainly do this again and would like to do a longer tour. Alex and Karen provide a special experience.

We very much enjoyed a week in and around Charleston in April 2011. Alex and Karen are friendly, well-informed, flexible hosts whose first priority is their clients’ satisfaction. They participated in each of the rides, which were varied, including a mix of quiet country roads through beautiful low-country scenery as well as fun rides through Charleston’s charming neighborhoods (much better viewed from a bike than a car or tour bus!). Each day we had either a picnic or lunch at a well-chosen café. In the evening dinner was planned at different charming restaurants in and around Charleston. The cuisine was excellent. We spent 3 nights in two different hotels, which were gracious and well appointed – good places to stay after a day of exercise! The small group, the personal service from the company’s owners, and the desire to meet the clients’ objectives made for a memorable and rewarding adventure. We have been on many bike vacations, both in Europe and the U.S. and was certainly one of the more enjoyable!
