This is a very popular location, the food is good however the prices are $$$$ for what you get. It is nice, however very loud, there is an echo. But it is fun if you want to eat sushi downtown. I wont go back.

Thank Pamela E

Excellent sushi! The other dishes we tried were great too. You must get the Jasmanian devil cocktail! The manager was very attentive to our table. We will be back!

Ordered bottle of wine with dinner. This bottle of wine was taken to bar to maintain chill. We watched OUR bottle being poured into another glass at bar and then brought back to our table to top off our glasses. Upon mentioning it to our waitress she explained that another waitress had mistakenly taken our bottle and topped the glasses of another customer drinking the same brand. They explained to us after we commented, that they got another bottle, poured out half of it and brought remainder to our table. Unfortunately, they did not seem to think this was an issue. It seemed liked an issue to us!!!

Maybe we heard too many good things about O-Ku before we went and were expecting too much, or perhaps what we heard was just hype. Regardless, we left disappointed. We were forced to wait 30 minutes despite reservations and despite the lack of a waiting area and despite two four-tops in plain sight. The TWO hostesses could offer little explanation other than the computer told them our table was not available. (Apparently this sort of news is supposed to be easier to take from two beautiful women.) It was loud and the server, while strangely vacuous, was surprisingly adept. We waited more than an hour to be served (the server took the blame for entering our order wrong), but she (and the manager) kept free appetizers coming and apologized appropriately. Unfortunately, the food really wasn't worth the wait. The sushi, as other reviewers have said, seems to be for people who don't really enjoy sushi. Our overpriced chef's choice selection was completely uninspired nigiri and sashimi: shrimp, tuna, salmon, and yellowtail. Nothing remotely exotic. Our cooked selection (pork shank) was quite a bit better (especially for the price), but it still seemed pretty short of excellent. I get the feeling that they expected us to concentrate a bit more on our consumption of alcohol and the prospect of hooking up rather than the nuances of food and service on this particular night. Unfortunatley, given the reputation of this restaurant group and the hype of this restaurant, we expected much more.

Pros:
-Atmosphere is very cool and the service is great.

Cons:
-Though oft praised for their cocktails, I found the one I tried to be unbalanced and working too hard.
-This is the kind of sushi place for people who don't like sushi: lots of sauces, tempuras and toppings. Once the actual fish was dug out from under its pile of accouterments, while fresh, I was not overly impressed by the quality.
