Lana is in a residential neighborhood, a short walk from King Street and away from the most touristed areas of Charleston. My wife and I had a very good meal there. Service was attentive and the atmosphere was low-key.

Lana restaurant was recommended to us by our innkeeper in Charleston and we weren't disappointed. Some restaurants nearby were quite loud and busy, but this place was described to us as romantic and upscale. It was a good choice for a quiet meal. The food was delicious. I had the special of the day, which was a risotto made with arugula and kale, apparently grown in the owner's garden. The dish was perfectly cooked. We had bread with dipping oil to start. Desserts were tempting, but I was glad I chose the sorbet and gelato mix: for $6 you could choose 3 of the home made sorbets and ice cream. Although the caramel gelato was lovely, the blackberry and raspberry sorbets were absolutely gorgeous! Service was prompt and friendly.

One of the best things about this place is that it is not in the heavily-traveled tourist area. It also is an attractive small corner location. It has a nice feel when you walk in and the staff is welcoming. The food was well prepared. The spicy shrimp was special because it had a slight kick and interesting chickpea-based sauce. The scallops were very well prepared but nothing special in terms of the peas for a base. Not a lot of flavor. I would go back but be a little more adventurous. I suspect this is the kind of place to do something very different. Glad I went and will return.

Looking for a nice, intimate spot that's outside Charleston's Historic District? This is the place.

The service was top notch and the meal was well presented. My only complaint is the entree was a bit salty (beef ribs).

A great neighborhood spot that was welcoming. Great layout, comfortable, not too noisy. Excellent service.

Had our Saturday night eat out here. Just the same as one year ago. It was great. Very good food. Chef on site and very involved. Many, many good restaurants in Charleston. This one is an unsung gem. Top quality food - good prices. Give it a shot.
