Interesting menu, good food and great service! Our first visit, but will return. I will say that parking was a bit of a hassle as they do not have on sight parking not unlike most restaurants on the Charleston peninsula. However, Lana is a bit off the beaten path and parking in the neighborhood can be a little scarce and one might expect a walk of several blocks....plan ahead. All in all, a great gem of a restaurant!

This restaurant is worth the trip outside of the historic center. It is a short ride and across from Hominy Grill so it is not hard to find. The atmosphere is similar to a European Bistro and the food is as good as much of the food that I have had in Italy. There is a good wine list by glass and bottle. The pour could be a little more generous, but that would be my only complaint. The gnocchi are very good and melt in your mouth. They are presented in a delicious red sauce. The bolognese is also delicious. We shared the antipasto which was very creative and tasty. Rather than the usual meats and cheeses, their platter had pâté, roasted beets, a bean salad, and other vegetables. It was very yummy and went well with the bread and olive oil dip. The portions are good and the service is excellent. The owner/chef was very attentive and came over to our table twice to introduce himself and check on how we were doing. This place is definitely worth the short drive out of downtown. The menu is varied leaning towards Mediterranean fare. Lots of delicious choices at reasonable prices.

A recent "girls' getaway" trip included an evening dining at Lana. What a delightful experience it was from the moment we walked through the door until our departure a couple of hours later. Lana's ambience is inviting, cozy and charming; one is immediately happy to be there. The menu is very unique and creative; every item in every meal each of us had was deemed outstanding. The service was friendly, but precise and immpeccable. I only wish I could transport Lana to my home town of Houston; I would close the kitchen in my home and eat there everyday. LOVED it!

We were staying at a "B & No B" just outside the Charleston, SC historic district. Using MapQuest, I searched for restaurants in the area. We found two with reasonble ratings within a 15 min walk or 3 minute drive. We were not interested in the menu at the first and wandered across the street to Lana.

Boy, were we ever surprised and delighted. The service was superior in a small and intimate family restaurant where the owner, chef or wait staff may be your server. Cocktails were ample and menu contained a broad range of Italian fare.

We arrived just before the restaurant seating at 6:00 PM. Bar and appetizers were available in the bar area which was a hub-bub of activity of local professionals. We ordered a drink and were the first table seated. Soon after the tables began to fill so reservations are recommended.

The Antipasto for two was sublime with very unusual items such as a crab, white bean & spinach salad, smoked salmon & cucumber salad, roasted eggplant bruschetta/tapenade, meats, cheeses, olives, etc.

The wine recommendation was perfect with the Bolognese (ground veal, lamb & pork simmered for two days with a light tomato sauce) over papparadelle pasta. The chef served us our dinner and lingered to describe how it was prepared. Later we discovered that he had won an Iron Chef Contest held in Charleston in September 2012.

Way above average!!!!

Desserts looked wonderful, but out of the question this night as were could not eat any more.

Will always return there when in Charleston.

This has been on our go-to list for years and I'm glad we finally went. The atmosphere is reminiscent of New Orleans and the menu is great. We started with just the olive dish to share. Normally that wouldn't make a review, but these were especially good (I liked the texture and flavor of all of the olives in the mix). Entree was a seafood medley - very good; husband had an Italian dish with bolognese - it was good that day and the next (portions were big enough for a to-go box). We went on a night where you can bring your own wine, and as we love to dine with our favorite wines, this is what brought us in and will bring us back! Oh, just for that I'm going to change my review from Four dots to Five.
