Owner description: Enchanting historic Charleston comes alive on entertaining and informative walking tours with 7th-generation Charleston native Michael Trouche. Discover stunning architecture, glorious gardens, Civil and Revolutionary War sites, cobblestone streets, wrought iron gates, legendary graveyards, and the local flavor of the fabled “Holy City” that no one knows better than Michael, who grew up in the famous "South of Broad" area, and has written two popular books on Charleston, where his family has lived for more than 215 years. Michael won numerous prestigious awards as host of the acclaimed "Carolina Camera" television program for 20 years on the local Charleston CBS affiliate, and has charmed tour guests for 10 years with his unparalleled knowledge of South Carolina's history, culture, plants and animals, as well as colorful insights, locations and anecdotes that only a lifelong Charleston native would truly know.

“Made our day!!”
Reviewed April 25, 2014

We started our day in Charleston without a real plan, saw Mike beginning a tour and asked if we could join. It was our great break! Mike knows all about Charleston and then some. He knows the history, knows all the homes and the flavor of the city. This was one of the best walking tours we ever took. Don't over analyze it....ask for Mike and enjoy your day.

Michael is a very incredible tour guide. My fiancé and I had such a great time. We also learned a lot about history of Charleston from him.

“A Highlight of Charleston”
Reviewed April 20, 2014

We took several tours of Charleston and this is the only one that really worked. Michael packs a lot of information and energy into his tour and you will see a lot in just a little while. He also took us into several buildings. I don't know how I was so lucky to find this tour but it was a great thing to do and it got us into the most historical area without feeling intrusive. Highly recommended!

“A Great Tour … A Great Guide!”
Reviewed April 18, 2014

Charleston is a walking city, and the best way to get to know her is to walk with a local. Walk with a local who is a 7th generation Charlestonian, one who is deeply informed about the culture, food, architecture, history, customs, even the flora and fauna … and you have a truly wonderful experience. Honestly, the two hours flew by, as Michael kept up a constant flow of stories, facts and observations that were as fascinating as they were entertaining. Because of his background from two decades on local tv, and as an actor … he conducts his tour in a way that is thoroughly engaging and enjoyable. There were no questions he couldn't answer in depth, and with the energy and enthusiasm of someone who genuinely loves his city and his work. We cannot recommend Michael's tour more highly than to say we were genuinely sorry to part company when it was over. Thanks for the insights, Michael. We know so much more about the Holy City thanks to you. Best of all, it felt like we were walking with a friend...

Definitely glad we chose Michael's tour! Excellent experience. Michael was not only knowledgeable but he also presented the information in a fun and engaging way that was perfect for our entire family - both adults and kids! Definitely the tour to take.
