Owner description: Enchanting historic Charleston comes alive on entertaining and informative walking tours with 7th-generation Charleston native Michael Trouche. Discover stunning architecture, glorious gardens, Civil and Revolutionary War sites, cobblestone streets, wrought iron gates, legendary graveyards, and the local flavor of the fabled “Holy City” that no one knows better than Michael, who grew up in the famous "South of Broad" area, and has written two popular books on Charleston, where his family has lived for more than 215 years. Michael won numerous prestigious awards as host of the acclaimed "Carolina Camera" television program for 20 years on the local Charleston CBS affiliate, and has charmed tour guests for 10 years with his unparalleled knowledge of South Carolina's history, culture, plants and animals, as well as colorful insights, locations and anecdotes that only a lifelong Charleston native would truly know.

We took this tour today with Michael and it was by far the best and most informative history of Charleston. I would recommend this tour. His knowledge is beyond compare. Price is very fair. If you do nothing else in Charleston, this tour is a must. We did. Thank you Michael!

Charleston Footprints, (guide Michael), is simply fantastic. Most tour guides can give you a decent talk, and even be entertaining while doing so; Michael is much more. Having grown up in Charleston, Michael can not only give the standard history lessons, but adds wonderful personal touches. We saw where a few decades ago, the high-fashion townhome was a grocery store, where the street vendors lived and worked, and many other tales. This gave a great texture and back story to what otherwise might have been just another outdoors history lecture.

One interesting and charming touch was that the locals would frequently interrupt and tell us tourists that Michael was the best!

He should charge double!

Michael kept us entertained for an hour and a half with a mix of historical and personal stories. He kept up a brisk pace covering many streets in the historic district.

If you really crave the hows and whys of Charleston, Michael, seventh generation Charlestonian, delivers a clear personal and in depth explanation of historical and modern workings of this beautiful town.

This one and one half hour tour allows you properly inspect all the life, history, architectural and horticultural detail as you walk while taking in the commentary.

Even in a wheel chair I was able to easily keep up, while the only area which was inaccessible was the Battery wall due the steps.

I am usually a bit snobby about most tours as I just don't think they provide the level of depth I am interested in.

Not Michael; this guy has an unbelievable amount of knowledge; beautifully presented.

The tour was so good I doubled his fee for every head in my party at its conclusion.

A must do when down there.
