Brian was clearly a native and had done extensive research on both people and places throughout Charleston. He had inside stories from residents, government workers and business owners, and knew the city like the back of his hand. He also knew an enormous amount of present-day information, such as the largest exported items from Charleston's ports today. he paid special attention to current themes of awareness (racism, hurricane season, etc.), and was overall a delight to get to know and learn from.

We can't say enough good things about this walking tour. Brian, our guide, could speak in depth on every Charleston topic imaginable: history, architecture, religion, food, tourist attractions, local stories, etc.

If you want to get a good feel for the city, and in the process become much more knowledgable about American history and American culture, make this the first stop on your Charleston itinerary.

My husband and I were fortunate to have a tour with Brian - just the three of us. His enthusiasm, passion and knowledge were evident throughout. He started with the early European settlements and wove interesting historical, political and personal stories that took us to current day events. He was incredibly knowledgable and a font of information. He was so engrossing and passionate the tour continued beyond the normal time, much to our enjoyment. We would highly recommend a tour with Brian.

Brian the guide is a master storyteller and weaves bits of history together like a mosaic puzzle. He is funny and entertaining as he tells you the intricate tales of Charleston history. A great tour for history buffs and anyone wanting to know more about Charleston’s place in American history.

Our group was the only one booked in the morning, so the three of us got a private tour with Fin. As a former history teacher, he conveyed Charleston's history in a way that was exciting and easy to digest. He encouraged and appreciated our questions.
His recall memory of important dates was impressive. Fin toured the important spots in the city in chronological order, so you could follow how the city grew or evolved as it was settled by the British; participated in the Civil War; endured fires, earthquakes, and hurricanes, etc. At the end, Fin made a great lunch recommendation. Overall, a great value for the experience.
