Like other reviewers we expected this museum to show what the building was like when used for the slave trade rather than the room being covered with information boards. These were interesting but repetative. Some of the slaves accounts were given through earphones and I'm sure there would be a queue for these during busy periods. The upstairs room contained artifacts from that period. We came away feeling that we hadn't learned anything new but anyone wanting to learn about the slave trade might find it a good place to start.

We went to this museum last week during a vacation to Charleston. This is the first time stoping in and my 3rd trip to the city. We purchased the combo ticket for the slave mart museum and the custom house. For the price, its not a bad thing to do, but not the best museum or best attraction in the city.

The museum is very small and I can't imagine how crowded it gets in the summer. Like most modern museums, its a "read the caption" self-tour. The most interesting part is the original artifacts...there are a few hanging on the wall. The structure is not original and if you are looking for the "real-life history" feel, its won't be your cup of tea.

I'm a history buff and it wasn't my favorite stop. you'd be just as well served reading the same captions in a textbook.

This was a very interesting and thought-provoking museum. Wish it was larger. The photos and audio portions of the exhibit were very good, and I am glad that this history was captured and put on display for future generations to learn about this time in history.

Take at least 60 minutes to take a slow walk through the Slave Museum. This is something that everyone should experience. The museum has had a controversial past, but we are so glad we got to study this history.
