“Lots of history here”
Reviewed April 15, 2013

We spent about an hour here and saw most of the cemetery. In my opinion, the best ones are over near the Confederate monument, with all the rusting fence and gates, but there are some interesting ones over on the back right side as well. This is where the various crews from the Hunley are buried.

This is a place that you can't help but feel the history and yet feel the time distance since the Civil War. When reflecting on these people and their families, one can't help but get a better view of your own minute importance and place in time. Less than 150 years later and people have simply forgotten all but the bumper sticker history and, what these people did and did not accomplish, and most people simply don't have any idea what these folks lived or died for.

“With the trip”
Reviewed April 14, 2013

This is a awesome cemetery to visit. Some of the headstones I saw were dated in the 1700's. The civil war soldiers memorial is great and very sad at the same time. The Hunley resting place is beautiful. The mausoleoms are so unigue. You could spend hours there. We stayed a couple hours and enjoyed driving and walking around.

“Beautiful and Historic”
Reviewed April 11, 2013

Being a photographer, the main attraction of Magnolia cemetary are the birds and vistas. It is also a treasure of historic information if that is your interest. It is immaculately well kept. Go early when it opens for birds on the several ponds and tidal creek that are in the cemetary.

“Beautiful, historic, kinda creepy.”
Reviewed April 8, 2013

I was surprised to find this attraction rated so highly on Trip Advisor. Having now visited, I think I get it. The cemetery's park-like setting is pleasant and full of history. Old crypts and Spanish moss add to the sense of mystery about the place. If you're looking to take a quiet stroll away from the crowds of the historic district, check this place out.
