Here's a nice place to take a walk of just sit and swing. After walking for hours through the city market, this was a very nice spot to sit and rest and enjoy watching the boats come in while the Grandkids splashed and cooled of in the large fountain.

I loved sitting on the porch swings and gazing out on the harbor.

Waterfront Park sounded like a hot sunny place but it's a pleasant, shady stroll along the east side of Charleston. Benches everywhere, grouped into little squares, like your own little living room right on the waterfront. And further down toward the tip of the peninsula is a park of live oak. If you aren't familiar with live oak, and I wasn't, it's the most interesting tree with fabulous winding limbs. Angel Oak over on Johns Island is a live oak, and well worth the short drive. But these younger trees (Angel Oak is 400 years old) are impressive enough if you just want to stay on the peninsula itself.

From the park you see Fort Sumnter and Mount Pleasant off in the distance. And the park has a fountain you can actually get into (limit is 25 people at once!)

Beautiful, right on the water, many benches in shady square patios, the City Gallery for art, cool fountains kids can splash in.
