Owner description: This private 2 hour boat adventure is what Charleston is really all about! I'm a native captain, so we'll glide through the uncrowded backwaters of the most pristine estuaries in the country. We'll learn to harvest oysters, catch shrimp and identify local shore birds. Next, we'll find the Bottlenose Dolphins. Having them swim next to the boat is exciting, but if we find them feeding in the shallows it's spectacular! Our next destination is Morris Island where I'll teach you about its rich Civil War history as well as my own family ties to it. We'll then walk its shores looking for shells and artifacts as the sixth oldest lighthouse in the nation serves as our backdrop! So as you can see we have something for everybody on this trip. The dolphins are always here, the beach is loaded with shells, and if you listen hard enough you just may hear the roar of cannons from the past. So come on and join me! You never know what washed up the night before...

We recently took the 2 hour boat ride to Morris Island. Although we were very excited to go based on our concierge's description of the trip going with Gresh Meggett exceeded our expectations. We were able to see lots of wildlife including osprey, dolphin, all the oyster beds etc. Gresh was very informative regarding all of the wildlife, conservation, Civil war history as well as local history of Charleston and the waterways. He was very enthusiastic and gave us about an hour to explore the beach on the island. We are from the Northeast and go to the ocean each summer but our kids had never seen a beach so covered with great shells. They were also very interested to hear his stories of all the interesting artifacts he has come across on the shores over the years. Our kids felt this was the coolest thing they had done in Charleston.

We had a blast on our 2 hour trip down Folly River and to Morris Island! Captain Gresh was very informative and knew alot about the area as his family has been there for several generations! He advised us when we set up the trip that you could pack a cooler with food/beverages and bring along to enjoy on the boat or at the island. The 2 hr trip takes you down Folly River to Morris Island, where the Morris Island lighthouse is. We saw quite a few dolphins, even though we visited in February when the waters are cooler. We were able to spend about an hour on the island to look for sanddollars and shells (including full conch shells). We were actually out over the 2 hour mark b/c there were groups of dolphins and Gresh wanted us to be able to see them. Gresh was great and the trip is very reasonable. I would definitely book a trip if you're in the Charleston/Folly Beach area! We will definitely be returning and are thinking about doing the 4 hour deluxe trip next time!

This is our second time out and what an incredible experience! Capt Gresh took us through and explained the beautiful salt marshes near his home. We saw a large variety of shore and wading birds as well as an Osprey. The amount of oyster beds we saw was unbelievable and Capt Gresh pulled the boat right up to one of them and showed us how they picked them. He then took us to Morris Island and gave us some great Civil War history that occurred there as well as his family ties to the place. We got out and walked the beach for an hour and picked up the most beautiful shells like conchs and sanddollars. When we got back to the boat Capt Gresh had shucked us some of the oysters he had picked earlier and they were absolutely delicious! To top it all off we encountered six dolphins on the way back to the dock. We've never been that close and were really surprised at how big they were. They swam right next to the boat for about 15 minutes! This truly was the highlight of our trip. Don't miss this one and thanks Capt Gresh!

Captain Gresh is the best! We took our second trip with him in early December. So thrilled to see the dolphins up close and the weather was absolutely perfect. Our family was here from England and Australia and we wouldn't have let them leave Charleston without a trip with Captain Gresh. Don't miss out on this experience. Highly, highly recommended!

We took the 2 hour private tour our last day in the Charleston Area. Our concierge Kevin at the Marriott told us about this tour and all the things we would see if we took the trip. This was the Cherry on the top of our trip. Beautiful birds, Dolphins everywhere we looked, oyster beds and history of the island. Capt. Gresh was very friendly and knowledgeable, the boat was beautiful and comfortable. When we arrived at the island, he told us where to explore and we got so many sand dollars and beautiful shells. This tour is not your normal excursion, It is the best and most unique boat excursion you will ever take!
